RE: ooh shit! - Niall - 11-01-2016 PTFE on a self tapper, bang it in and jobs a good'un I have definitely not repaired a CH pipe with this method before that I drilled through RE: ooh shit! - tigerstyle - 11-01-2016 For normal plaster/brick/block work? Modern drills aye? Big power! RE: ooh shit! - roland rat - 11-01-2016 Haha i hope your better at working in cars than hanging pictures up RE: ooh shit! - Piggy - 11-01-2016 Bwhahahaha RE: ooh shit! - toseland - 11-01-2016 duct tape! sorted RE: ooh shit! - Toms306 - 11-01-2016 Its fine, there's plenty of oxygen about anyway! RE: ooh shit! - cully - 11-01-2016 the day was going so well! was given the job of refixing the over bed light that had been ripped from the fixings std practice is to fix a back board once the conduit box is broken beyond repair someone else had already measured up and had the boards made there was no indication the pipes were there as the outlet is to the right beside the curtain the wrong side the nurse call panel anyway tiz done now you wouldnt believe the proscess of getting that pipe dead and repaired needless to say its going to cost a few ££ RE: ooh shit! - 1616six - 11-01-2016 Surely working in that environment you'd have a pipe/wiring detector? RE: ooh shit! - Niall - 11-01-2016 (11-01-2016, 06:04 PM)JJ0063 Wrote: Surely working in that environment you'd have a pipe/wiring detector? They are pretty crap to be honest! Paul, why couldn't you replace the conduit box? Or was it fitted with pots behind the plaster no chance of changing? In that case i just redrill holes in the back of the box and thread them then just use longer brass screws to fix in. Job done! RE: ooh shit! - Danny Wideboy - 11-01-2016 Erm. Nobody gonna mention gripfill? Yes I am aware hindsight is everything. RE: ooh shit! - WiNgNuTz - 11-01-2016 Gripfill is cheap rubbish....Sticks like Sh*t is where it's at! That stuff is bloody awesome! RE: ooh shit! - Niall - 11-01-2016 You're buying fake stuff then i reckon Danglenuts. Gripfill is awesome stuff! Its also great for filling gaps and cracks lol RE: ooh shit! - WiNgNuTz - 11-01-2016 Meh, I still use it if I need it in bulk, but for the majority of my job where gripfill would apply, I use sticks like sh*t instead. RE: ooh shit! - cully - 11-01-2016 conduit box it terminated with MICC we need to fix to the block-work as we have had the angle lamps pull sections of plasterboard off the walls when we have used gripfill RE: ooh shit! - Niall - 11-01-2016 Ah I see. MICC is wonderful stuff.... RE: ooh shit! - Danny Wideboy - 11-01-2016 Dry lining is such a shit building method. Why not plaster the blockwork and have a solid wall? As a bricklayer and plasterer I find it ridiculous that it is even still a thing. Especially when you get pikeys these days rush things so much but providing it all looks ok on the surface its fine. I went through a 230v cable a while back. Could see where it was leaving the panel so you would think they would follow the safe zones right? No. It went at a 45 degree angle behind the board! Get it tight in there and bolt cropper the rest of the screw off and hide the evidence with plaster. No evidence, no witnesses, no crime. RE: ooh shit! - 7057sam - 12-01-2016 Paul you really screwed up....
