Any brickies / DIY'ers here? - doski - 03-01-2016

Im looking at building a workshop in the coming months and possibly buying the materials soon to spread the cost's. It'll be a 3m long x 2.4m wide x 2.2m high concrete block construction, with wooden beams for a tapered roof and tiled after.

I'm looking at these blocks

and just wonderering how secure a 100mm block would be when building so high?

my thoughts are to use rebar to strengthen the walls when building it up. Or should I just use 150mm blocks?

Just build a couple of piers into it on the longest walls.
Divide the length of the wall by 3 and at the measurements that gives you, build a two skin block pier. 215mm x215mm.
Easier to hang some wall ties out as you build, or use a furfix kit than trying to bond them in if you are still learning.

thanks for the input.

yet to work out my exact measurements which of course will be double checked by the time the blocks are bought but thanks. didn't really want to eat up into the space but thinking about it will make a great way of attaching some shelves.
