Who has removed the Aircon pump? - td163 - 20-12-2015 I am going to be removing the Aircon pump as the bearings have gone but I am after a bit of clarification. There are many threads out there and each one says something different. Who has removed the AC pump and how did you do it and with what parts please? RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - Toms306 - 20-12-2015 I have. Pull it off, fit a shorter belt. Not much to it! I've put the belt length using both tensioners in previous threads but cant remember it off the top of my head. RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - td163 - 20-12-2015 I saw some threads about running an extra tensioner or something. Glad its that easy........so you kept the manual tensioner? I will try and root out your old post as to length. With the spring tensioner it will take a lot of slack, hence the difference in lengths on here! RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - toseland - 21-12-2015 you will find that most guys have different lengths when doing things like this.. its perfectly natural, RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - MY95 - 21-12-2015 As above, its more personal choice/what you can get really. I just used whichever i could find cheapest, a 1173 belt was at least £8, whereas I found a 1185 old stock dayco for £2.50 posted. RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - td163 - 21-12-2015 I have gone with the 1185 length in the end found one on ebay for 3 posted . Got them today RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - MY95 - 24-12-2015 That's the exact same belt I bought a few months ago that I run on mine (was £2.55 when I bought it), big difference when I had it side by side to the original! RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - td163 - 24-12-2015 Exactly the same as the one I've ordered which again came today xD RE: Who has removed the Aircon pump? - 306clot - 27-12-2015 Hi, I’ve removed my aircon, used the 1173 belt. you can use only the auto tensioner but I found it would have the belt slip in heavy rain fitted the manual one on max tension and that appeared to solve the issue as it pushed the belt around the alternator that little bit more.
