Refurbed calliper still binding - MY95 - 12-12-2015

So, had a calliper binding on for ages now even though its been refurbed with seals and piston, and a new flexi and main brake pipe from calliper. Pads and discs fine and free of gunk/dust in usual places, wheel bearing fine too. Any ideas? I know that my brake servo possibly has a leak somewhere as the pedal goes hard at idle after a few pumps. Doesn't give off much heat with a heavy enough braking session but just doesn't spin much at all!

Can only be the MC left after changing everything else!?

Take the pipe off at the caliper and Gert a mate to press the pedal, see what happens....

Plenty of fluid out and all appearing normal, its gonna be the caliper. Anything else, its gonna be mc

That's what I was thinking Tom! Hope not as they aren't cheap though.
Will try that, cheers Ben!

check your stub axle to see if its bent slightly had this a few times

Are the pads and sliders well greased? Often find that just giving everything a clean and regrease can fix the issue.

RE: Refurbed calliper still binding - MY95 - 13-12-2015

Yes Poodle I always keep on top of the sliders and the pads are all good :Smile
Dont think its stub axle as one side is a bit worse than other and at first one side was binding on and the other was spinning very freely.

RE: Refurbed calliper still binding - MY95 - 13-12-2015

So, don't think its MC as the rear brakes are spinning freely, so guessing that's MC out of the equation?

Are the sliders all straight? Erm, struggling for many more ideas tbh, perhaps flush the fluid if it's old.

RE: Refurbed calliper still binding - MY95 - 13-12-2015

Sliders straight and all fine and fluid is only about a month old.
So defo not MC because of the above?

Scrap the car and buy another one... Wink

On a serious note, is there any possibility that the ABS pump could have an internal fault that's restricting the flow through that?

RE: Refurbed calliper still binding - MY95 - 13-12-2015

Have been tempted Tom lol Tongue
Naa aha.
No issues with anything ABS related Tom Smile

It is possible yeah, although pretty unusual. Just trying to exhaust the other, much cheaper options first lol. There's usually a light accompanying the problem, but not always...
