Estate fuel tank - camoturd - 01-12-2015

Hi peps I am having a problem with my fuel tank and need a new one.

S question is are the estate ad hatchback fuel tanks the same?

You're in luck, there's one in my garage. I don't know if they're the same, but if they are you can have that for a tenner.

What's wrong with it?

The screw part of the fuel sender is cross threaded causing it not to hold it down.

THere for leaking when full to half full when I turn left or break
So not good

Yeah kl just nneed to find out if the same lol

Sure it's not just a dodgy ring (oo err!), never heard of someone cross threading the tank myself, even I haven't managed it! lol

RE: Estate fuel tank - Poodle - 02-12-2015

Seen it a couple of times. My silver one with the fuelling problem needed a new tank because the ring has been crossed on and the hole had ovalled with the pump swinging around.

RE: Estate fuel tank - camoturd - 02-12-2015

Exactly as poodle said it's just swinging around so not sealing right

And check if it was ring but the one we got did the same even tho they were both fine

Fair enough then, seems odd they wouldn't make the ring the weakest point! I'll have to be more careful in future now haha.

On topic, the fuel tanks should be the same, I haven't noticed any differences between estate, 5 door or 3 door having broken all of them. Servicebox will confirm that though.

RE: Estate fuel tank - bashbarnard - 03-12-2015

Fuel tanks are different depending on what pickups etc you have from what ive seen.

RE: Estate fuel tank - Toms306 - 03-12-2015

Ah that would make sense, I've only broken HDi's tbf.

RE: Estate fuel tank - Poodle - 03-12-2015

Now i thought it was only the pick up that changed, will try and remember to check that out later. Or the op can just look on servicebox lol.

RE: Estate fuel tank - cully - 03-12-2015

air vents off the top of the tank differ with age too

RE: Estate fuel tank - camoturd - 03-12-2015

So as long as it's a hdi it should be the same tank no matter if it 3 door 5 door or estate
