depends how long the cycle is and how dirty they were!

I'd not have put the steel parts in tbh, but given you already have, make sure you wd40 the lot liberally asap, especially the cam bearing surfaces and any other machined surfaces.

I've done a gearbox and an alloy wheel before, the alloy was more to get it hot to knock a dent out Big Grin

I'd get some soda crystals in there as well during the wash; help flush it through..

I accidently spilt some oil on a car matt and put said matt in the washing machine. i did that once. NEVER again...

I didn't think dishwashers were that good for cleaning kitchen stuff, let alone car parts?? Admittedly never used or even seen one in the flesh though. lol
