Drilling the grill - aaron_one - 04-10-2015
On my last 306 I had a moonstone 5 door and I thought it'd be different if I sprayed the grill matte black along with the hockey sticks, I actually really liked the look of it and I want to do the same on this car, I'm debating whether to drill a few holes to the right of the badge though, nothing over board but just a few, 3 or 5 I think. Has anyone done this and if so have you any pictures?

Few people have done it, personally I think it looks a little silly. People argue it's for extra airflow, but tbh it's not going to make that much difference

I didn't think it'd make much difference, i have a feeling I can make it work my my car with other subtle things I'll be doing but I haven't made my mind up yet

Yeah there is, but I'm talking about if it's visually anyone's cup of tea to see if I can decide whether to give it a go. Not for performance 'gains'

I think it looks shit and the aerodynamic drag over the edge of the holes is certainly notable.

as above, a gert big ole (or no grille) will be better than lots of small holes.
having mismatched panels just makes it look like you have crashed it and not finished painting it.
(yes, my car is two different colours, yes I did crash it and I haven't finished yet
)

i too have been toying with this idea, but though it is prob just easier to get a longer cold air feed pipe, and have it in direct airflow. like just behind the grill on the lower front bumper, or in one of the spotlight holes. somewhere the air can just come straight in. at least it is reversible without having to buy a whole new panel.

Chris (eddy_gti6) drills lots of holes in his 306's.
If your going for the track look then yeah.
