Mot fails? - Matt - 23-09-2015 So I have a leaking steering rack, a cv boot with a split and a bj with a little play. Will these cause the car to fail a mot? Just need to know wether they are going to be high priority on my fixit list or not RE: Mot fails? - bashbarnard - 23-09-2015 Steering rack leak will only fail if it effects the steering or the oil is over a brake component. Cv boot is a fail regardless, ball joint depends little movement can be advised but you will find most testers will just fail them from my experience. Hope it helps. ? RE: Mot fails? - Piggy - 23-09-2015 As bash says tbh Although iirc inner boots are advise only now. But bj n cv boot wana be sorted asap tbh regardless RE: Mot fails? - Frosty - 23-09-2015 All depends how bad it is and what the tester is like TBH RE: Mot fails? - 1616six - 23-09-2015 (23-09-2015, 05:58 AM)Piggy Wrote: Although iirc inner boots are advise only now. Are you certain? I've been told a few times they used to be but are now a fail if split? However, as much as its a pig of a filthy job, any CV boot that is split wants doing asap. Makes such a mess and the £8 of a boot to save a £50 shaft makes eco sense RE: Mot fails? - Matt - 23-09-2015 Okay cool, haven't got the time to replace a steering rack before the test. Boot and bj are easy. I'll just chuck one of those repair boots on it. I can't even see the tear in the boot Mot fails? - Frosty - 23-09-2015 All cv boots fail if leaking bad enough RE: Mot fails? - Matt - 23-09-2015 Boots not leaking though. It's just got a tear, must have been very recent, as I've not seen it while working on the car haha |
