Blue Smoke - KilianManning - 21-09-2015

Well guys,

Bit of a problem appeared all of a sudden with the xud! Dhx

When the engine is warmed up fully its misses at idle with plenty of blue smoke.. Confused Like it isnt firing on all cylinders.

Problem only appeared this morning, it was perfect before.

Im thinking either valve stem seals or injectors, not sure if blue smoke would be caused by injectors though.

Would valve seals just go suddenly letting oil into the cylinder?

Also, there aren't any starting issues, it starts as it should.

Anybody any ideas?

Kilian

check oil level, is it using any?

Blue smoke and missing could mean fuel.

Odd that it does it when warm.

Is it fine then when not idling??

Oil level is good, only driven 10 miles since it started, so hasn't gone down yet anyway

Right

Yes drives perfect with the usual black smoke, the engine drives as it did before

Had this before.

Put it down to sticky injector(s)

Yeah thats a good shout to be honest ^^^^

Maybe some injector cleaner like Forte and some premium diesel may sort it

Think the first thing I'll do this weekend is swap for a known good set of injectors so.

So I lock the crank earlier to check timing. Find the injector pump timing out nearly two teeth Huh

Oh.

Not good. Check all the pulleys and idlers etc and put a new kit on it!

I have a Bosch semi ecu. The timing jumped because lack of lack of tension on the belt. I'm very lucky it didn't come off completely.
