Mk7 transit engine or conversuon to ?? - Chris306 - 16-09-2015

Just bought a mk7 tranny rwd 2.4 tdci but the engines a gonner, rocker ladder smashed, rockers in half, inlet cams nackerd, yet the timings not jumped at all.

So basically what I'm asking is does anyone know a good place to get one from or suggestions on a conversion :Smile lad from up the road has mtdi an older tddi but wasn't to keen as it drives shite with the 200tdi pump he's used.

Seen one fitted with the old banana engine and box lashed in mess but it worked pikey had it to shift scrap he bodged it in himself slow but reliable

6bt would be epic but a little bit over the top lol
The banana engine would be easy but like say they're dog slow and I want something with a bit of power, half tempted to strip and rebuild it but it can be an expensive risk to take

How about a xud on a ldv gearbox easy to tune it for a bit more go can't be any worse than the transit engine I got stuck rebuilding one a couple of years ago ended up costing a bomb it would have been better just to have found a good used one I know that sounds easier said then done but they do pop up at times

if you want power buy a more powerful one, get a better intercoler, map it.

which engine is it?

unless the van was dirt cheap and you do it all it wont be worth it due to the value of used commercial vehicle engines, and lack of alternative donors ( 2.4 only ever came in the transit , where the fwd 2.2 puma diesel cam in lots of things)

would be better off breaking it and getting a runner.

td di IS mechanical injecton. just happens to be fbw, 90's are all di low boost, early 115's also di, but they used the 125 turbo.

125 is commonrail.

135 available in later vans.

its 100ps common rail, for 900 it's a bargain but like you say might be easier get a runner first off, and what I meant by mtdi was that the mk7 tddi is electronic controlled mechanical pump whereas my mate has just bolted a 200tdi landy pump on and just winds the screw out for some reek. Have been rented by some sprinters aswel tbf

best bet is to hunt for any mk7 commmonrail engine then, I think they stopped doing the tddi engine in late mk6 when the base engine changed from 90 to 100ps, emissions bollocks most likely, though they are more torquey.
