Back brake pads. - Moonwalker - 10-09-2015 On the back brake pads on a 6, what are the wee wire things on the pads? What do they do? Do you need to put them back on when you change your pads? All suggestions welcome as always! Will RE: Back brake pads. - Stef205 - 10-09-2015 you mean the retaining spring? Yes that is needed do not fit without and take note of which way they go most are fitted incorrectly. RE: Back brake pads. - HDi--Power - 10-09-2015 They are not retaining springs, they are anti rattle springs, the little L shaped bar is the retainer. RE: Back brake pads. - Moonwalker - 11-09-2015 Yeah the retainers in, I just wondered what the wire things were for, thanks for your replies! Will RE: Back brake pads. - Toms306 - 12-09-2015 They're anti rattle springs as above...let me know if you work out the magic behind how they actually stop rattling though! RE: Back brake pads. - Magenta Sunset - 13-09-2015 Wires to the pad itself? prob pad wear circuit. I just can't understand how!! RE: Back brake pads. - welshpug - 13-09-2015 I can't understand how you don't understand. its a spring, holds the pads under tension, stops rattling. RE: Back brake pads. - Toms306 - 13-09-2015 But it's only on the pad, if it was also held onto something immoveable like the carrier I could understand it, but it's just on the thing that's moving in the first place!? Maybe I'm overcomplicating this somehow... RE: Back brake pads. - Poodle - 14-09-2015 Or you're fitting them wrong lol. They should be under tension once the retainer is in too. RE: Back brake pads. - Toms306 - 14-09-2015 I just fit them how they come off lol, or use the other side or a spare 306 for reference. The springs themselves are under tension, but only on the pad. RE: Back brake pads. - welshpug - 14-09-2015 they should be against the carrier. RE: Back brake pads. - Toms306 - 14-09-2015 Only the top of the loop is against the carrier, is that really all it needs? I have been overcomplicating this then, my bad. RE: Back brake pads. - pug306driver - 14-09-2015 theres a pretty good picture in the Haynes manual....shows how they fit........modified split pin ( shortened ) to hold slider plates in works well.....big red do new slider plates also... |
