EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - highwayman306 - 05-08-2015 Ive had a search and Im not too sure if the TPS flags up an EML... does it? Also the car is idling at ~1050 rpm and, when changing gear, the revs seem to stay high/lagg a bit before dropping, is this TPS or could it be a dry cable? Thanks in advance ![]() RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - Paul_13 - 05-08-2015 Does sound like tps. I had a fault with my last hdi where the throttle stop cable was broken somewhere along the line and the ecu couldn't tell if the tps was at 0 RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - highwayman306 - 05-08-2015 Sound mucka, would it throw the eml up too? :/ getting really pissed off with this car now lol RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - Ruan - 05-08-2015 Depends on software version from memory, but yes, usually TPS will stick it on EML, especially if it's holding a high idle.. Just make sure it's not somehow trapped the throttle cable or similar and the EML is a red herring... RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - Paul_13 - 05-08-2015 It would of but someone removed the bulb because they were pissed off with it lighting up all the time RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - HDi--Power - 05-08-2015 If the tps flags a fault the idle is set to 1100 automatically RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - Toms306 - 06-08-2015 (05-08-2015, 10:03 PM)HDi--Power Wrote: If the tps flags a fault the idle is set to 1100 automatically Does this when you remove the TPS plug also, sounds much happier idling there though! ![]() RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - highwayman306 - 06-08-2015 It's just the lag in revs dropping that's winding me up the most... Maybe I need a focus hey Tom ![]() ![]() RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - Toms306 - 06-08-2015 If you buy a Focus make sure it's not one with a wanky Peugeot engine like mine. ![]() No worries, always happy to help. Is yours the 1.6 PSA diesel? I thought they were pretty decent engines...if you change the oil regularly and blank EGR ![]() RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - Toms306 - 07-08-2015 Yeah that's the one, don't believe everything you read online, I wouldn't buy another. Yeah, but you'd find fault with anything ![]() As has been said, check the cable's not caught on anything. If you can, swap with a known good TPSĀ from a running car before shelling out on a new one. Have you plugged it in and got the error codes? You're not the first to have suggested that... ![]() If you've got plenty of money to throw at modding and maintain them, and don't care about MPG or having enough gear to drive motorways economically then go for it... ![]() Its not a 'bad' engine as such, just a pointless one compared to the 2.0 imo! As I say though, don't believe everything on the internet, people will obviously have different opinions. RE: EML, high idle, revs taking time to drop??? - highwayman306 - 07-08-2015 Checked cable, its running through sheathing fine. I haven't had it plugged in...I STILL dont own a pp2000 ![]() I need to get one, for when things like this f*cking happen pfff |
