Newbie from another country - Yankee - 03-08-2015

Hi guys!

I drive a 1998 306 cabrio 1.6 and was told about this site by someone on facebook.

My 306 is my daily until I can afford a bigger car and I'm currently planning a roadtrip
to the UK either in 2016 or 2017 because I want to attend FCS and maybe meet a few of you.

I do have a few plans for my car and might request a few photoshops in the future.

PS. I can't really remember if I already made a thread like this in the past or not Tongue

This is what my car looks like right now, I still want it lower..

Welcome to the club. Not sure Id put it any lower than that! Looks great and you have headlight washers! Big Grin

Something the Brits missed out on Wink

RE: Newbie from another country - craig306 - 03-08-2015

Welcome mate Smile

RE: Newbie from another country - Eeyore - 03-08-2015

I like the wheels. Got a little bit of wolfrace dragons about them!

RE: Newbie from another country - maxzy - 03-08-2015

Welcome !

I like the headlight washer, Very cool item for my country.

RE: Newbie from another country - Yankee - 03-08-2015

Thanks for the welcome guys! Big Grin

The headlight washers are not working so I want a bumper in yellow without them for a cleaner look.
The wheels will get fixed and resprayed this winter.

RE: Newbie from another country - Niall - 03-08-2015

Welcome Smile
Car looks really nice! What other spec do you get in these that we don't in the UK? Heated seats at all? Cruise control?

RE: Newbie from another country - Mattcheese31 - 03-08-2015

Welcome, smallest engine in a cabby over here is the 1.8, car looks Nice though Smile

RE: Newbie from another country - Yankee - 03-08-2015

Thanks Niall/Herb7/Mattcheese31..

My car has heated full leather seats, cloth/plastic doorcards, electric windows,
electric roof, electric mirrors, central locking, ph2 headlights, ph3 grille, ph3 foglights,
ph2 front bumper, ph2 rub strips/door handles/mirrors and ph3 boot lid.

I'm trying to find the phase 3 parts I need to change the looks of my car.
The smallest engine for my cabrio over here is the 1.6, but I've seen one 1.8 and one 2.0,
I want a 2.0 16v engine in mine when the 1.6 dies at some point in the future.

So many plans, not enough money Tongue

RE: Newbie from another country - Niall - 03-08-2015

Awesome. Id love a set of factory heated leather seats!
Get a GTi lump in there. Cant think of many people who have done that.

RE: Newbie from another country - Yankee - 03-08-2015

I'd never get my car approved for a GTI engine at the MOT station, 132 ponys is the highest hp number I can legally put into my car..

RE: Newbie from another country - td163 - 04-08-2015

Welcome matey

RE: Newbie from another country - Yankee - 04-08-2015

Thanks td163

RE: Newbie from another country - bashbarnard - 04-08-2015

How come no higher than 132bhp??

RE: Newbie from another country - Yankee - 04-08-2015

Because stupid rules.. A gti6 engine would be fun though.. I'll look into that..

RE: Newbie from another country - impotentials - 04-08-2015

Is it only bhp that is restricted or torque as well?
Welcome along by the way. See you in two years....

RE: Newbie from another country - Yankee - 05-08-2015

As far as I'm awar of its horsepower and factory engine choice, everything I do with my car will be 100% legal. (I dont think the 306 cabrio came with the GTI6 engine from the factory)

Thanks for the welcome, I hope I can find some of the parts I'm looking for over here this winter to get the project started next spring.
