Car For The Missus - 306carter - 09-07-2015 Yes another what car thread! The missus needs a new car this year for carrying the kids about. Currently she/we have an Astra 1.8 Design 2005 we have had 3 years and it's time for a change. I've been looking at Focus' Astras ect but I've run out of ideas. The criteria is as follows
Budget ~£4k plus the Astra I rekon £1-£1.5k for that in part x. RE: Car For The Missus - THE_Liam - 09-07-2015 306, done. RE: Car For The Missus - 306carter - 09-07-2015 I'll add something around 7 years old to the list. RE: Car For The Missus - 1616six - 09-07-2015 Golf or Leon? RE: Car For The Missus - Matt-Rallye - 09-07-2015 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2009-Renault-Megane-1-6-VVT-Dynamique-5dr-/261961204669?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cfe1ac3bd Seems within budget and can get higher spec models for around the same money. probably get a 5 yr old one for the higher end of your budget and they are a nice / decent place to be RE: Car For The Missus - r3k1355 - 09-07-2015 Surely a 4K Astra will put you in one of these: They're f*cking horrible cars. RE: Car For The Missus - 1616six - 09-07-2015 Nope you'll get a J for the £4k plus £1500 p/ex http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2010-Vauxhall-Astra-1-4T-16V-SRi-140-5dr-60-1-MPG-5-door-Hatchback-/221752692897?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item33a17d90a1 1.4t 140bhp isn't bad and would probably be had for £5.5k. Boggo spec would be do-able for £4500. RE: Car For The Missus - silverzx - 09-07-2015 For 4k you could get a nice 05-06 plate 3 series e90 or 5 series e60 with either a 1.8, 2.0TD or whatever floats your boat. Probably more likely to hold it's value then an Astra or Focus. RE: Car For The Missus - 306carter - 09-07-2015 (09-07-2015, 03:13 PM)JJ0063 Wrote: Golf or Leon? I'd be looking at an older model with lower spec to come in budget. I found a 61 plate for £6k with 40k on the clock at a local dealer. Really like the look of the Astra J. Even though a BMW would be an upgrade, pitching this missus would be difficult. I'd just get so we are spending 4k on a car that's the same age? RE: Car For The Missus - 1616six - 09-07-2015 It's better than the NAD! Quite nippy & is reliable. Where are you located? I've got an SRI NAV spec diesel you're welcome to have a drive of. RE: Car For The Missus - 306carter - 09-07-2015 Leeds! I've found a 60 plate 1.4turbo at a main dealer local to me. It's a little more than I wanted to spend but I think we'll go take a look tomorrow. The 1.6 petrols seem to be around the same price too. RE: Car For The Missus - 1616six - 09-07-2015 Ah I see, il be in Chesterfield next weekend & you're welcome to take it out & see how you both get on with it but it's prob easier to go to your local dealer - offers there though! RE: Car For The Missus - cpikey316_ - 10-07-2015 Honda Civic! SPACESHIP!!!! RE: Car For The Missus - adam b - 10-07-2015 Really unimpressive the 1.4T engine in the Vauxhall. Goes ok but horrible to drive. Had it in a meriva hire car that was otherwise very very good, with loads of space and toys RE: Car For The Missus - r3k1355 - 10-07-2015 (09-07-2015, 04:24 PM)306carter Wrote: That's what we have now!Gutted mate, they're 'orrible things. RE: Car For The Missus - Dum-Dum - 10-07-2015 Audi A3 or similar with the 1.4 TSFi or TSi lump and a bit of spare cash for a remap RE: Car For The Missus - Herby7 - 10-07-2015 Peugeot 308 |
