better brakes - Weemangti - 25-06-2015

I have a supercharged gti 6 what brakes are the rest of you running on your 306 s need some better stoppers

RE: better brakes - aaron6 - 25-06-2015

I just fitted 406 brembo's with the xantia set up. It's a good budget upgrade. Much much better than standard 6 brakes. I sometimes wish I'd have spent a little more on discs and got the tarox that don't squeal but hey ho. They ain't too bad now I got anti squeal shims fitted. I shall probably machine myself up a big brake conversion at some point though.

Brembo gt kit. Seem good enough. Just saving for pug1off's new 6pot muthas. They look the bomb....

better brakes - Janne L - 26-06-2015

807/C8 V6 brembos with 3008/207GT/208GTI 302X26mm discs.
Citroën racing makes an adaptor for the Brembo's.
No squeal.

RE: better brakes - Redordead89 - 05-07-2015

Anyone know if 406 brembos go straight on a phase 1 306 1.6??? With bigger disks obvs!
15" speed lines fitted!??

RE: better brakes - adam b - 05-07-2015

Depends on the speedlines, not sure on the hubs.

They sold next to no 807 v6s in the UK. I've been looking for years...
I'm using the pendulum 310mm RS brembos and they work well. Significantly better than the 406 ones and lighter too (light than stock hehe).

RE: better brakes - Redordead89 - 05-07-2015

I found a set today in a local scrappy off a fresh as yet unbroken 98 406 v6!

RE: better brakes - adam b - 05-07-2015

They'll fit under the mag and ally btcc speedlines, otherwise I suspect some compmotives are it for 15s
Xantia v6 discs and you are away, if they fit the hubs

RE: better brakes - Redordead89 - 05-07-2015

The speedlines I have on the car are 205 1.9 GTIs!
The brembos might be a bit of overkill for a 16 xsS with drum rears but can you ever really have too much brakes in a 306?
A dirty set of hands a pulled butt cheek muscle and £40 lighter I'm off home with a big smile and big brakes!

RE: better brakes - Matt - 06-07-2015

Niall is running some prett porno brakes iirc, check his project thread Wink

They are fairly cheap brand new from pug/Citroën, I know of 3 people who bought new ones, this year!

Hi Janne and Adam, your not far wrong about the price Janne, on new/reconditioned! My sister is in the parts trade and she looked the callipers up reconditioned and if your a good customer (mates rates) you can get them fairly cheap! £75-85 each side which is pretty much how much mine just did used!
I've kinda embarrasingly discovered last night after fuelling up £15 I can't afford to replace disks, pads, fitting kit etc right now so the brembos arent being fitted and will likely find a new home soon enough and the way things are going now my car might end up offskie too! :-(
Thanks for the reply anyway!

RE: better brakes - insomaniac45 - 06-08-2015

I feel my brakes are a little naff.
What would you recommend for my 306 cabby, W plate (2000) 2.0l it is 100% stock atm.

better brakes - Frosty - 07-08-2015

Either get some new decent brand discs and pads or gti6 front brakes are a cheap upgrade

RE: better brakes - insomaniac45 - 07-08-2015

I recommend yellowstuff pads into your existing calipers.
