Improving my Handling? - JTaylor2005 - 28-05-2015 Hi all, Quick question really. Handling feels a bit sloppy and unpredictable. What bushes, rolls bars, links, mounts etc would be worth getting replaced and repaired to sort the handling out? It doesn't feel like it could have possibly been sold like that standard haha and there is a bit of a knocking noise on the front if I go over bumps while going round a corner. Thanks Jack RE: Improving my Handling? - Eeyore - 28-05-2015 What mods have you got? Meyle HD Wishbones Wishbone bushes and pbushes. Suspension strut top mounts Rear beam mounts... replace new or solid ones. Adjustable drop links arent worth it on a daily. Just get the cheap plastic ones not the metal rod ones. Other than that youre looking at a refburbished or upgraded beam, lowering, better shocks or coilovers. Could also fit a gti6 front arb. Tyres are obviously going to give more grip. Recommend Michelin PS3s. RE: Improving my Handling? - JTaylor2005 - 28-05-2015 Cheers haha. I'm looking more for what I have gotta replace that's worn to get back near New handling. Then I know I need a rear beam as well as mines quite a bit off. The looseness feels like it's from the front though steering wise and general suspension wise haha RE: Improving my Handling? - Iceman299 - 28-05-2015 I was just thinking about this the other day. I'm getting a fair bit of clunking from the front. Already had new drop links and bearings. RE: Improving my Handling? - Piggy - 29-05-2015 P bushes or droplinks. Top mounts usually seize up rather than knock but it can happen RE: Improving my Handling? - JTaylor2005 - 29-05-2015 Okay brilliant. I think what I will have to do is get it booked into the local garage that does suspension. There is such a range of things it could be that I would struggle to diagnose it by the sounds of it haha. Cheers guys RE: Improving my Handling? - 7057sam - 29-05-2015 Could be the beam on the way out/needing a rebuilt or as the others have said shocks,p bushes etc. RE: Improving my Handling? - Toms306 - 29-05-2015 (29-05-2015, 07:31 AM)JTaylor2005 Wrote: Okay brilliant. You shouldn't struggle to diagnose a knock tbh, all you need is a pry bar and a bit of strength (don't need much, trust me haha). Just put the bar around anything that can knock (joints and bushes) and see if you can move them. If they're that bad you'll be able to replicate the knock, if not, you should still movement there. RE: Improving my Handling? - JTaylor2005 - 29-05-2015 I have emailed two places that specialise in rear beams for these asking about a gti-6 beam but got no reply. Seems like no one wants business haha. |
