HID STYLE bulbs - MrMarlboro - 10-05-2015 Now I'm gonna sound stupid but are these bulbs safe? As in no burning ect lol http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductMobileDisplay?zygonManPartNum=HBU477&zygonPrice=0&zygonId=10145867&zygonArticleNum=150524&zygonGenericCode=000000&catalogId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=165538&productId=1055413&storeId=10001 They are HID style bulbs, and my car is a Xreg phase 3 I heard there was an issue with phase 3 lamps and HIDs though, I know they aren't proper HID bit just style bulbs TIA RE: HID STYLE bulbs - Paul_13 - 10-05-2015 Err I hope not, I'm running hids and phase 3 lights RE: HID STYLE bulbs - Poodle - 11-05-2015 Not sure what you mean by no burning? They're sold as OEM replacements, should be absolutely fine. Yeah, shouldn't run HIDs in normal crystal headlights, get too much dissipation and blind oncoming drivers, need projector headlights to run them really. RE: HID STYLE bulbs - highwayman306 - 11-05-2015 Iv been running HIDs in my car for years, if you choose the HID bulbs with a coating to stop the scatter and align them correctly you do not blind oncoming traffic, takes time but trial and error you can save peoples sight...never had a fail on MOT...but i dunno if that is part of it RE: HID STYLE bulbs - Eeyore - 11-05-2015 jesus christ and the HID debate begins. What I imagine halfrauds are selling here is a bulb that is slightly less yellow than normal. You either have HIDs or you dont... there isnt an inbetween that gives you the colour and rightness but isnt actually HID... I mean look at the structure of the bulbs... The halfords one doesnt look like a HID bulb. I highly recommend you just get some Osram Nightbreakers and fit them legally. People who run HIDs blind others unless your in the 0.0001% who claim that they have set them up properly... in which case they are still illegal but slightly less blinding. RE: HID STYLE bulbs - highwayman306 - 11-05-2015 Yay! Im rare Can of worms here! Sorry Rowell RE: HID STYLE bulbs - kee616 - 11-05-2015 Even new cars with these hid bulbs still blind! Lol I can say osram nightbrakers are excellent bulbs RE: HID STYLE bulbs - MrMarlboro - 11-05-2015 As in these bulbs Eeyore? http://www.nightbreakerunlimited.co.uk/night-breaker-unlimited RE: HID STYLE bulbs - Paul_13 - 11-05-2015 They do night breaker plus twin pack. HIDs are old tech now anyway...it's the LEDs that blind these days I think. Lol Decent LED headlights are bloody fantastic. Much more output than HIDs and don't blind anywhere near as much. Infrared is where its at though |
