On 60,000 with 3 previous owners. Previous owner had it for 10 months before needing the cash for other things. He also had an amazing beach buggy
It's has had a visit to K-Tech Racing who fitted a KTR Induction kit and a KTR BOV. It sounds amazing, not too chavvy but withj the essence of turbo.
The usuall gubbins; 4 pot brembos, LSD, Trophy chassis, Xenons, Recaro seats, cruise control, electric windows (which were replaced 2 years ago i was glad to hear), electric mirrors and a DID have a full tank of fuel!
Drive home yesterday totalling about 100 miles and managed to use a third of a tank of fuel.
Really pleased with the purchase. Plans are to just enjoy the car, give it a new set of tyres as the eco tyres on at the moment squeel and have no hold to them at all, give it a semi-decent detailing session, look at replacing the ICE and try keep it as nice as when I purchased it.

C&C welcomed.

Very nice! Always liked these, getting rarer too!
Insurance on one of these must be quite high though compared to the GTI6? More reliable though id hope than a 306 lol

RE: New car; R26 content - Iceman299 - 10-05-2015

Ooooh very nice! What's the power on those things?

Lets hope the engine is more reliable than current F1 engines!

RE: New car; R26 content - Strikeforce - 10-05-2015

In this colour and spec in particular ... not as much as you'd expect!
But yes, it stands out in the car park, that's for sure lol

RE: New car; R26 content - Piggy - 10-05-2015

does everyone on this site have to own one of these at some point!?

RE: New car; R26 content - kee616 - 10-05-2015

RE: New car; R26 content - 7057sam - 11-05-2015

Looks epic, did you buy it off Somone who used to own a gti6??

Remmber Somone on 306gti.com selling a liquid yellow with ktec mods

RE: New car; R26 content - Toms306 - 11-05-2015

I just can't get into these tbh, don't do anything for me at all, though it seems like half the forum owns one now. lol

Still a significant step up from the '6 though, and as Sam says, awesome teachers car... Shouldn't you be driving a brown Cavalier with a peeling bonnet and coffee stains inside... Big Grin

Its a state of natural progression piggy. Have a go in my DCi175 once its mapped and de-DPF'd and see how lovely it is Wink

Liquid Yellow is car colour porn to me Heart  nicely done ginge!

This, I just have never liked them.. I can see why you've chosen it though so fair play. I've been in them and they are quick cars but I just couldn't own one, the arse is not attractive.

My friend has had a couple of R26 and now has an RS 265 which I think is much nicer. He had handbrake issues on both of the R26 too. (Handbrake failed on the first one, rolled down a hill and smashed into the side of a parked car!)

His RS265 is gorgeous however. They've stepped the game up on build quality too.

A balanced criticism, thanks!

I knew the reputation for build quality and the areas of danger; and the window regs were replaced 2 years ago, so that's safe'ish for a little while.
And Cambelt has just been done.

I've also been quoted for a cheeky remap (225-255) also which is tempting; but the reputable mapper suggests getting a "stage 1" to make it completely reliable. What a stage 1 is I have no idea; usually IC and intake?

Oh, there's one more thing I forgot to mention... let me go get a picture ... Doh

Don't get me wrong, it's done to an extremely professional finish. But really isn't to my taste. OE cover ordered and on its way

RE: New car; R26 content - Seb_Ryan - 11-05-2015

Stage 1 is literally a map, stage 2 is better fmic

So having the remap alone wouldn't impact reliability too much then; just my wallet?

RE: New car; R26 content - Toms306 - 11-05-2015

I quite like that engine cover... lol

You're so backwards lol

RE: New car; R26 content - Toms306 - 11-05-2015

Funny enough it's not the first time I've been told that... lol

RE: New car; R26 content - Iceman299 - 11-05-2015

Wtf, that's a bit too crazy for my liking! Atleast you're getting a standard cover

RE: New car; R26 content - zx_volcane - 11-05-2015

That engine cover is gash, bin it and don't bother fitting another - weight saving ftw
