Light blue smoke - Nathan1305 - 22-02-2015

So lately when I start my car in the morning I get puffs of slightly blue smoke. And if I hold the revs it sounds lumpy and puffs smoke for a few seconds. When I start driving its fine but if I put it in 4th and let off the throttle at low speeds I can see a bit of the smoke in my rear view mirror but can't see anything else in any other gears. Anyone know what this could be?

well as far as im aware they all sound lumpy at start. my own does the same every morning. as for the smoke in 4th gear it could be oil in the exhaust. did the turbo ever blow ?

A bit of blue smoke when starting is fine, as long as it clears and any smoke doesn't remain blue. Any smoke you see out the back when flooring it is probably black which is just improperly burnt fuel. It's fine as long as it's not excessive. But any blue after running for a while means you're burning oil.

If it's lumpy when cold then you probably have bad glow plugs, nothing serious.

Not necessarily. Rule out other cheaper things first.

Mine was like this... Was just static timing on fuel pump. When i changed to 11mm and re timed it etc its never done it since. Was always a twat to start even with new glow plugs lol
