S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 15-02-2015

Bit of a project I have been doing in my spare time, using it for work so I'm not racking up the mileage on my 207.
Was asking the previous owner for around 18months if it was for sale.
Had a random call one evening saying do you still want the 106?
£200 later it was mine moted until sept 2015 & a decent mileage of 75K
Once home it had a major clean, 22 year old white leather was horrid.
Been doing bits like clones Xsi spoiler, arch extensions ect
Couple of pictures I'm working on each weekend getting ready for the shows this year.

Looks really nice Smile good to see another 106 on the forum

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - RetroPug - 15-02-2015

That's absolutely gorgeous! What a bargain!

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Niall - 15-02-2015

200 is a fantastic price for what is a very rare and quite (weirdly) cool car!

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Piggy - 15-02-2015

Thats super rare!

Nice buy!

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - procta - 15-02-2015

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - ozonehostile - 16-02-2015

Looks great that! Rarest of all the roly g's iirc

Nice to see a shiny one, usually have chronic lacquer peel

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 16-02-2015

Thanks all, yeah its in really good condition tbf given the odd mark here & there.
Waiting on the warmer weather to clay & machine polish it.
I done the standard Roland Garros wheels white at first but being 13"s they looked crap.
I have some pictures Which I'll upload of when I first bought it looking very sorry for its self.
Chris I was looking at the Xsi kit but not wanting to cut the rear arch I kinda went off the idea.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris_90 - 16-02-2015

I'd leave it standard tbh, be more of a rare classic in time to come, but the xsi kit wasn't bad to fit tbh you do have a cut that's open to be seen so is risky.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 16-02-2015

I have done it in the past with Gti rep's but I put some standard arch's which are yet to grow on me .
Your old one looks epic mind.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - 7057sam - 16-02-2015

Looks great,how's the interior ??

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 16-02-2015

It's OK Sam, passenger & rear seats cleaned up perfect with a nail brush, drivers seat has bolster wear which I'm trying to find a mint one.

chris_90 is yours still a live?

what engine size is in this one then? chris1357

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 17-02-2015

Just a little 1400, that been said they weigh naff all so it's nippy for what it is.
Well it's faster than my 1.4Hdi 207 that's for sure.

I thought it was I believe it went to Birmingham but just looked on dvla site and says details not found on it so might be dead...... Sad

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - 7057sam - 17-02-2015

What wheels are you going to change them to?the clone look huge.

Maybe some 90's wheels like 205 gti's on 106 s1 steelies.

It will be a nippy little fucker.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 17-02-2015

Been looking at 1.9 speedlines, I only put the Clones on last weekend & if I'm honest there a liitle wide for the rear arches.
S1 steels are a good shout, I have 5 Saxo Vtr steels here I might whack the flat seated rings off them & see what they look like.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Danny Wideboy - 17-02-2015

Love the car.

Cant abide the wheels or plastic arch jobbys myself, but it's not my car.

Two of my mates had these and they were nippy little motors, lovely interior and handle well standard, even better with a 30mm drop.

S1 106 Roland Garros - Shiny - 17-02-2015

I want! Yeah get some s1 Steelies on there!!

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Toms306 - 17-02-2015

Cyclones are too rounded/modern, lasers would look alright I reckon. Not a fan of Rallye steels myself.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - 205dtub - 18-02-2015

Awesome car, soft spot for a phase 1 106. They handle so well. Keep us updated. I agree it could do with a wheel change, a set of 14" compomotives would look the nuts. Possibly a set of ch's painted gold to go with the green.

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - 7057sam - 18-02-2015

What about the 106 xsi wheels ?

Has it got a gti arch kit on ?

RE: S1 106 Roland Garros - Chris1357 - 18-02-2015

Scrapped a set of lazers a few weeks ago Tom, bloody heavy things.
as for Rallye steels I'll have a look what these Vtr steels look like in white before spending out on a decent set.
No Sam its just a Flat arch kit that was a optional extra from new on standard 106's
Go for a decent price when they come up for sale so may go yet.
