try for the classic car insurance on it

RE: Back in the game! - Anton - 01-02-2015

Insurance is £445.

Few questions...

What beams are on these?
Not sure whether to put 6 brakes on or just refresh these, opinions?
At the moment its got vtec, not much power until about 4k. Couldn't see any splits in any of the pipework, so do you think it could just be the solenoid?

Back in the game! - Frosty - 01-02-2015

Beam should be same as gti6. 20mm torsion bars, not sure about ARB

I put gti6 brakes on mine, though the brakes are 266s on a s16 the calipers have pretty small pads. Prob worth the upgrade unless you want to keep it fairly original.

Did you do what I said about with the diaphragms? I did have to change the solenoid on mine. I managed to get that new from peugeot

I had an N reg s16 that had the key pad. Also had airbag and air con

Cheers fella. Will put some 6 brakes on rather than spending the money on these. I didn't no, I checked for leaks but couldn't see anything. Will wait until Ruan's over and we'll check it.

RE: Back in the game! - aggyj17 - 02-02-2015

If you have no vacuum it's most likely the solenoid on the side of the head above the gearbox as frosty said can get them from pug.

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Anton - 21-06-2015

Well months have passed and this old girl is looking sorry for itself....

See it everyday and go 'wow', bloody love it and want to be using it. Needs putting through an MOT and a few jobs doing but i've had no time at all lately.

Anyone interested in lending a hand? General clean up, service items etc? Could make a weekend of it

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Niall - 21-06-2015

I may be up for a trip to Oxford depending on when you do it Smile

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Anton - 21-06-2015

hmmm...if I get my car drivetrain sorted by then I should be able to blast up..

whats the plan?

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Anton - 22-06-2015

Matt do you have a ramp? Just need lots of love! Underside isn't in great shape but you'd expect that for its age. So i'd really like a ramp to make life easier.

Brakes all round
Tyres/wheels
Fix oil leak, believe its rocker cover
Full service
Possible gearbox leak

Its booked in for an MOT tomorrow at 9am, so probably quite a few things more lol.

Piggy whatever you're willing to help with Smile

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Matt-Rallye - 22-06-2015

I dont have a ramp but zakks unit is next door and he does! Big Grin drop him a PM, arrange a date and let me know, i'll make sure im free Smile

If that fails i have big axle stands and a high lift jack / creeper board and anything can be done inside the unit Smile

Indeed! I think i'll get Pugfest out of the way and then take you up on the offer.

Good news! It PASSED its MOT, first time. Rather chuffed!

It's had:

Full service
Rear brake overhaul
Clean
Carpet shampoo

To do:
Source passenger wing mirror
Source dipstick
Fit GTI6 front brakes
Fit cyclones (got two sets now)
Polish!

Any offers of help appreciated!

I'm so restricted on time between now and Pugfest its unreal, spent another two hours on it this evening before i ran out of daylight. Whats your postcode?

Cheers mate, the rarity is whats making me pull my finger out!

Cheers, yes and i'm camping too Smile

New wiper blades on the front and mist jets.

Dewipered the rear and bunged it, seems to have cured the boot falling problem lol.

New number plates front and back as the old were horrendous.

Spent a few hours cleaning up some GTI6 calipers, managed to paint them tonight. Ordered a new slider kit for both of them along with new discs and pads plus 5 litres of DOT 4 to give the whole system a flush.

IT'S GETTING THERE!

Smile

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - RetroPug - 29-06-2015

Awesome car mate.

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - procta - 29-06-2015

Anton got to say your two motors look the part there! the Volvo really goes well with the 306! I have toyed with the idea of getting a Volvo C30 as my next car, if I do get the chance to move on in life, I would buy a 3rd car lol,

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Piggy - 30-06-2015

FIVE litres of brake fluid!?!?

You'll be there for hours!

Thanks mate, so different but both great cars. The Volvo is just the perfect cruiser, love it.

Haha 5 litres of Pagid was £11 something, so there was no point messing about with smaller bottles.

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Anton - 02-07-2015

Slowly getting there!

RE: Peugeot 306 S16 - Poodle - 03-07-2015

You know the whole system only takes about two litres, right?
