rear wheels rubbing - gary.jennings050580 - 17-01-2015 Hi guys. Just had a reconditioned gti6 rear beam fitted but now i'm getting a rubbing sound when I go over speed bumps. It only happens when I have a fair amount of weight in the car but I cant seem to find where its rubbing. Has anybody had the same problem or any ideas what it could be? Going to try and remove the mud guards and see if that helps. RE: rear wheels rubbing - bashbarnard - 17-01-2015 Should rub the mudguards at all. You have either done something wrong or have the Incorrect wheels on. Or completely bent shit shields RE: rear wheels rubbing - Toms306 - 17-01-2015 Is it at standard height? If its scrubbing you should be able to see where. My bet is the arch liners but could be either side though, I had a recon beam scrub the outside of the liner with heavy loads. RE: rear wheels rubbing - gary.jennings050580 - 17-01-2015 Cool. Would wheel spacers help? RE: rear wheels rubbing - Toms306 - 17-01-2015 Depends where its rubbing... If its rubbing the inside arch then yeah a small spacer could stop it - but if that's the case it sounds like the beam should be fixed under warranty! If its rubbing the outside theres nothing you can do, apart from making sure the liners are clipped in properly. RE: rear wheels rubbing - Stef205 - 17-01-2015 it should rub at all, despite how low or high it is. Who rebuilt the axle? RE: rear wheels rubbing - 7057sam - 18-01-2015 Obviously question what height was then beam set at ? RE: rear wheels rubbing - cully - 18-01-2015 Irish spec? |
