High pressure fuel pipe - Mr_Nuclear - 09-12-2014

Hi all,

Haynes says to replace the high pressure Fuel pipes if they are slackened or removed. Is this really necessary?

In what case? Just generally? Or have you done a specific mod that needs to to be replaced?

If you are going to replace them you need to get the right standard of fuel line.

I've taken the head off, the people that skimmed the head removed the injectors slightly and I removed the pipe that connects to the fuel rail as I left that attached to the head.

I usually re-use them, never had a leak before.

Theoretically you should replace them every time they get removed due to the massive pressure they are under, but everyone I know has re-used them and never had an issue...

I've always reused them, never had a leak.

As long as you seat the pipes correctly you will normally be ok. The pipes are flared at the end and are crushed when first used to seal.

Peugeot say to replace them too but in practice this only happens if they start leaking, if it does worry then

I didn't change it, its not leaking so all's well.
