Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

Late model 306 hdi
Seems to have all the goodies

[Image: 153256F9-4510-4433-AF74-B98408523747_zpsq5adk0fh.jpg]

145k and going strong hopefully should take me up the motorway and back in comfort

I have never liked the s16 alloys on a phase 3. I can only presume they are non standard? Didn't most meridians have those 14" swallow alloys

If calculations are correct this is 306 number 7 for me
Best bit was when I bought it home and my mrs said "wow I owned that exact model and colour over 14 years ago"

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Matt-Rallye - 29-09-2014

If its a meridian spec late one those 'laser' alloys are most likely factory fit Smile

Looks in good standard condition! usually these diablo red ones suffer from laquer peel, has yours?

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Piggy - 29-09-2014

With a cheap map, clean and a smack with a lowering stick that could shed the dull feel very quickly!

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

Yeah there's some lovely lacquer peel going on

RE: Boring dull & diesel - powerandtorque - 29-09-2014

About par for the course on a Diablo then lol

wet sand, clear laquer, wet sand, polish

Job jobbed Big Grin

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Eeyore - 29-09-2014

Its not boring and dull. Get a stage 1 map and a decat on and it will liven it up. Those are the OEM laser alloys.

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Toms306 - 29-09-2014

Later HDi Meridians did get Lasers as above, I guess they ran out of Swallows lol.

You should also have rear electric windows if its past X reg. Wink Also, the splitter wasn't standard on Meridians, but is a good addition, needs the spoiler to finish off the rear end though. Wink

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

Its a 5 door diesel! It's all right for what I need, just a comfy car to go up and down the motorway. If that jammapic dude does another £50 remap deal I'll probably go for it you know

This is for my kicks and giggles

Or should I say my money pit! Spent a fortune on welding so far!
Still need to refurbish my rear calipers then it will be retest time (there's a thread on the 306gti club about it)
Once it's mot'd needs the gearbox seals renewed and probably a new driveshaft (both GAITORS are perishing)
Then I'll stick another Cambelt on it too

Fortunately the hdi had a cambelt earlier in the year Smile

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Matt-Rallye - 29-09-2014

Ah top man Big Grin same boat as myself! HDi daily and Rallye for fun / weekends Smile

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

It's the only way

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

And it begins!!
[Image: E7DA0A06-23BB-414B-8FA1-39247EB86FA2_zpss6trw2fs.jpg]

I suck at standard

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Toms306 - 29-09-2014

Those tyres look a bit chunky?

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

I think so too! We shall see

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Toms306 - 29-09-2014

Lol, what size are they?

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

195/55/16

They were so cheap it actually hurt me.

Will they go on at this size? I have always ran 15s on 306's

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Toms306 - 29-09-2014

Hmm, they wanted to be a 45 profile really. I reckon they'll still fit, but might rub the rear arch liners, fronts should be ok though.

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 29-09-2014

They will do for Now then Smile

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 30-09-2014

Stuck them on and you are absolutely correct the fronts fitted fine but the rears rubbed despite fitting them with 5mm spacers. It did come with 10&5mm spacers but no extended bolts

This was all an exercise in being a bit tight as im currently being emergency taxed so things are slightly difficult to say the least

I realise now I should have simply spent the money on two new tyres for the s16 alloys

[Image: B3C02F17-6556-4D10-99F0-63752D9DBF2D_zps1jlpigli.jpg]

But as the rallye is currently off the road till next payday and has 2 brand new tyres on the front, this happened

[Image: CCA01D62-3AAF-44FE-97BD-142CEEC068D2_zpsr2wtcjt0.jpg]

I'm suprised how nice the rallye actually looks on those wheels, I wonder if it's because it's lowered

The Cyclones are pretty scruffy anyway and ruined an otherwise rusty money pit
[Image: 70D88FEC-1675-4652-B220-D42F3F79ABC2_zpsqaqsdmje.jpg]

Ah well, seems sorted for now

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Matt-Rallye - 30-09-2014

Obviously only real men are brave enough to rock a rallye on S16 wheels Wink

Mine did FCS this year on them lol

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Piggy - 30-09-2014

Love the 16" wheels...rekon they look very nice spaced right to clear!

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 03-10-2014

yeah they looked well, however the car is just a motorway cruiser and decent 195/50r15 tyres are very well priced compared to 16's

never the less i have been up to work in it all week without any issues!

looks like i bought a semi decent french

I think Peugeot missed a trick here!!

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Matt-Rallye - 04-10-2014

It surprised me how well they sit on a rallye! Smile

The look better on my S16 though Wink

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Piggy - 04-10-2014

Are you giving up on the 16s or guna try again to fit them?

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 11-10-2014

Given up!

The idea of the car is a cheap frugal daily driver
It's more efficient to run 15" wheels as there seems to be a wide choice of tyres at a good price

Mind you I only got 41mpg out of the last tank

RE: Boring dull & diesel - Toms306 - 11-10-2014

I don't know how people manage such poor mpg from a HDi! lol

At that sort of figure, surely it's cheaper to fuel the Rallye instead of having a second 'eco' car lol?

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 17-10-2014

I am unsure yet lol!

Rallyes too temperamental to drive daily!!

True but I've a light ph.1 gti6 and I averaged 27mpg last weekend. lmao

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 19-10-2014

It's gone up to 48mpg I can live with that

Aching to get the rallye back on the road

RE: Boring dull & diesel - af1 - 27-10-2014

It's now dead.. Some kind of fuel delivery problem. Need to get it on Peugeot planet!
