HDI starting issue. - puglove - 23-09-2014

Right guys my old estate is having issues.

It was cutting out when you put your foot down. So my mate changed the lift pump. It was fine for a week or two. Then started to be a pain in the arse to start. Had to keep cranking it over untill it finaly started ( intermittently cold or warm) no it just wont start cranking over and over with no joy.

See that link in my sig? Yeah, that. :p

Call me if you are still short of ideas bud.

RE: HDI starting issue. - puglove - 23-09-2014

Nice one cheers alex. Think FPR maybe my next port of call. I know the MAF is pretty shot on that but that wouldnt course it not to start would it?

RE: HDI starting issue. - Poodle - 24-09-2014

Fpr would be a good place to start, and yeah the maf shouldn't affect starting.

Don't you have peugeot planet? That would make diagnosis a fair bit easier, have a look at the correction values on injectors and see how much rail pressure there is at cranking etc.

I havnt got PP mate. But iv ordered one of those android fault code readers. See if that helps track down the issue.

RE: HDI starting issue. - Midnightclub - 24-09-2014

It'll only display basic codes but should give you some idea, let me know if you want the torque app

RE: HDI starting issue. - Poodle - 24-09-2014

Oh for some reason I thought you did... Rolleyes

The code reader will at least it'll tell you if its not fuelling problems. If it is fuelling (p0230) then you'll want something a bit more capable ideally.

RE: HDI starting issue. - puglove - 25-09-2014

It was hunting ever so slightly when it did run so im pretty sure it is fuel. But if it does show a fuel code atleast i will know for sure im on the right track.

And yes please danny Big Grin

RE: HDI starting issue. - Midnightclub - 25-09-2014

No worries, PM me an email address or text me etc..

RE: HDI starting issue. - puglove - 28-09-2014

Right turns out (i think) the starting issue is down to the fact has has mullered the battery keep trying to start it. It will fire straight up with a bump start. But i cleared the fault code (P0230) took it for a drive. Booted it and it cut out again and raised the code again.... so im going to go clean out the FPR today and go from there. :/

Also prob doesnt help he didnt have the return line clipped on the lift pump properly ...... LOL

RE: HDI starting issue. - Poodle - 28-09-2014

Hunting could well be down to knackered injectors, probably worth doing a leak-off test if cleaning the fpr doesn't do the job.

RE: HDI starting issue. - puglove - 28-09-2014

Done the FPR now. Starts better. Stopped hunting. Doesnt cut out every time you boot it . But now its thrown an EGR fault code. And it just cuts out randomly now seemingly more offten in the lower revs :S

RE: HDI starting issue. - Poodle - 28-09-2014

That's a bit random, really need live data to see what's happening when it cuts out.

RE: HDI starting issue. - Toms306 - 28-09-2014

Whats the actual EGR fault? Tried unplugging it?

RE: HDI starting issue. - puglove - 30-09-2014

I think im abit out of my depth now as far is dw10 is concerned ..... XUD FTW lol..

RE: HDI starting issue. - Toms306 - 30-09-2014

Seem to remeber you didn't have much luck with the XUD either. Tongue

HDis really aren't difficult tbh. It'll be something really simple I bet.
