The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 20-08-2014

Evening all.

Figured I'd chuck a few photos up after a detailing session the other day, and don't have a project thread (as nowt has happened for a couple years, really!) so had to make a new thread.

Was my birthday last week (thanks for the thread, you cnuts!) which marked the 5th anniversary of me driving this thing on the road, and although she's a bit rougher round the edges than she was back then, she's still alive and well.

A bit of beading:

The old girl's new home:

Apologies for the crap quality, the camera on my new phone is a bit pants.

RE: The old girl's still going - Toms306 - 21-08-2014

Well I've never seen alloys rust before... Itwasntme

Seriously though, not my choice in alloys but its not my car lol, and the rest still looks surprisingly good after 5 years! Smile

Haha, the colour is temporary, I just needed a cheap solution, and this respray cost less than a tenner and is incredibly hard wearing. I start a new job on the 1st of september though, so sandblasting and powder coating will be on the cards, there's a place in Brum that does it for £20 a corner.

Sweet ride. Black masks and roof! Good combo

RE: The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 21-08-2014

Cheers dude! Still pretty unique, not seen many other 306s with black roofs, which is nice.

Love the car Kezzie it looks fantastic the black and red combination works awesomely well.

RE: The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 28-08-2014

Cheers dude! It's filthy again after ragging it around Snowdonia for a weekend though!

Sorry to bring old thread up but how the hell do you manage 73MPG? I can just squeeze 60 out of mine.

RE: The old girl's still going - Toms306 - 22-01-2015

Constant speed, slip steaming and a bit of mathematical error. Itwasntme

RE: The old girl's still going - 7057sam - 22-01-2015

Looks very nice personally prefer it on the c5 steelies but still looks great

RE: The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 22-01-2015

It's never been on C5 steelies Tongue

And the 73 MPG was calculated properly, only error would've been the usual minor inconsistencies in filling up (I always fill to 2 clicks) and speedo/odo error. I followed a tanker most of the way from Brum to Cornwall at ~60mph (on the satnav). Even with 5% error that's still only just shy of 70MPG Wink

RE: The old girl's still going - Toms306 - 23-01-2015

Haha, you know I'm only winding you up. I have no interest in 'on a run' mpg myself, do roughly the same mixed driving so I'm more bothered by averages.

RE: The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 24-01-2015

My driving is utterly inconsistent, I did it out of sheer curiosity, I hadn't planned on brimming again when I got home, but after 200 miles, the needle had barely moved, so I calculated.

RE: The old girl's still going - Calpin - 26-01-2015

The door interior, is that standard matierial? Mines flagging and I'm not sure if I could get all the glue off scrub it down and spray it.

RE: The old girl's still going - af1 - 17-02-2015

yes they are 405 wheels. I think they did a 14" version for the 106 iirc though Smile

RE: The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 19-02-2015

Yeah, 405 Mi16s, the 106 wheels are somewhat similar, but not really, and they're 14s as matt says.

RE: The old girl's still going - Kezzieboy - 21-02-2015

It's the same size as stock, if not smaller, actually, and a nicer shape/feel. It's a ZX 16v one.
