Worst car repairs/Best bodges - ADV_93 - 15-08-2014 I've seen a fair few in my day but these are just some i found off the internet. Any pictures welcome please! IS THIS A 306? [attachment=18415] wth? [attachment=18416] RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Curt - 15-08-2014 Bulb holder was screwed and snapped... Out came the bodgery. [attachment=18417] [attachment=18418] [attachment=18419] Re: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - bashbarnard - 15-08-2014 Oh wow im sure ive seen a few ![]() RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - ash23 - 15-08-2014 saw this the other day speaker cabe holding the exhaust ![]() [attachment=18420] RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Dum-Dum - 15-08-2014 Might as well post a pic of my car lol ![]() RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - RetroPug - 16-08-2014 Yep, first one is a petrol 306. The handbrake cable one is pretty bad imo...never know when that might just snap. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - THE_Liam - 16-08-2014 No pics but I've seen a very loose and knocking ball joint with a jubilee clip round it. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Poodle - 16-08-2014 Should have got a pic of the exhaust off an isuzu trooper i replaced yesterday, was more rust/holes/coat hanger/cable ties/drainpipe/leather/belt/tin foil than actual exhaust. Seriously though, tin foil and a leather belt, how were those going to help?? RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - procta - 16-08-2014 how about a home brew side thru exhaust, ![]() ![]() sounded like a council grass cutter! laugh was the full system was a right miss match, he had used a rover 200 down pipe, and a metro gti decat section, it didn't have any silencers in at all. I had to put a peashooter on the back to get it to quieten down. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Ricky - 16-08-2014 This was the exhaust on my Coupe.. ![]() Held together with some sort of foil repair tape and a whole lot of exhaust paste. Didn't last long. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - ozonehostile - 16-08-2014 Most minis that have been "restored" are home to some horrific bodging..... New floor plans spot welded over the top of the original rotten floor, sills glued to rot with filler, whole sections of the inner wings made from silicone painted over to hide it... Pretty funny stuff as long as it's not your own car RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - ADV_93 - 16-08-2014 On my d turbo, my drivers headlight bulb holder (the plastic ring that clips onto the back of the lens itself) kept coming off as soon as i put the bulb retaining clip in place, so i got a bit of cardboard, wrapped it in electrical tape and jammed it in place, lasted about 8 months before i finally decided to fix it using bonding RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - toseland - 17-08-2014 exhayst was blowing... motorbike can available... win. My auntie bought a classic mini a 10 years ago now, she bought the injection model to replace her carbd one. The new one, had a few rust patches, so she got it sorted, by a family friend, He said it was the car was just full of filler, and a bit of a time and a half to sort it out. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - RetroPug - 17-08-2014 I think if I went for a mini I'd have to buy a rolling shell and get it dipped, but that's all mega-money and I already have a nearly 18 year old car to throw fistfuls of change at. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - lolsteve - 17-08-2014 Worst one can think of the top of my head is changing the brake discs on a friends mondeo, he would replace the pads or get the rewind tool. So instead the piston just can smashed a few times and the pads smacked on to make fit. His logic was "pads will wear away soon enough so it'll b rite" Driving to asda saw the brakes reaching near nuclear levels of heat ![]() Re: RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - THE_Liam - 17-08-2014 (17-08-2014, 08:31 AM)lolsteve Wrote: Worst one can think of the top of my head is changing the brake discs on a friends mondeo, he would replace the pads or get the rewind tool. Plus there a better old cars to throw your money on too, RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - RetroPug - 17-08-2014 (17-08-2014, 01:28 PM)procta Wrote:(17-08-2014, 06:15 AM)RetroPug Wrote: I think if I went for a mini I'd have to buy a rolling shell and get it dipped, but that's all mega-money and I already have a nearly 18 year old car to throw fistfuls of change at. That's why I'd buy a rolling shell that wasn't made of filler, make sure everything is sorted on it properly, and then get it dipped and treated etc. Then I would feel confident that I had a good base to build one on. However, if I was spending that kind of money it wouldn't be on a mini. RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - cully - 17-08-2014 this was on my car when i bought it [attachment=18438] RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Dum-Dum - 17-08-2014 I really need to plug my hard drive in and upload some photos lol RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - mr_fish - 18-08-2014 (15-08-2014, 11:55 PM)Dum-Dum Wrote: Might as well post a pic of my car lol  One exhaust bodge I came across...10/10 for using a jubilee clip, a washer and a cable tie. ![]() ![]() Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Frosty - 18-08-2014 Not putting a name to it then mark lol RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - mr_fish - 18-08-2014 (18-08-2014, 02:36 PM)Frosty Wrote: Not putting a name to it then mark lol ![]() RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - j77hrn - 18-08-2014 My battery tray fell apart on my old golf. Tied a nice bit of blue string in a bow round the battery to 'secure' it. For some reason it failed it's MOT ![]() RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Dum-Dum - 18-08-2014 I once used 2 jubilee clips instead of a gen peugeot exhaust clamp. I used electrical wire to hold up the exhaust on my 325tds. I held a FMIC on with cable ties. I held a different FMIC on with blue rope. I held a bumper and headlight on with cable ties. I've repaired chassis damage on more than 1 care by tying it to a lamp post and reversing. I repaired a leaky rad with a dollop of fiberglass as that was the first thing that came to hand. My PAS pump leaked so I removed the system. I split an exhaust so I split a couple of beer cans and wrapped them round then jubilee clipped them. I had a fuel leak that I couldn't be bothered to fix, I covered the pump in black silicone I had an oil leak i couldn't be bothered to fix, I covered it in black silicone. I'm sure theres loads and loads more that you'll all remind me of RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Owen_G_ - 11-11-2014 Seen a man using Hoover pipe for an exhaust extension. Didn't last too long haha Love the phone Speedo one lol RE: Worst car repairs/Best bodges - Ruan - 11-11-2014 (18-08-2014, 02:46 PM)mr_fish Wrote:(18-08-2014, 02:36 PM)Frosty Wrote: Not putting a name to it then mark lol WILLIAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
