Aircon Removal Phase 2 - Mike - 15-08-2014

Hi All,
Just brought myself a phase 2 estate with aircon Dodgy
I have no idea where to start when removing it.. (Always had phase 1s with no aircon)

But the main question is, the compressor. Once say all the pipes etc are removed. Can u just leave the compressor in the AUX setup and be done. Or does it have to be removed?
Searched around and seen alot of people asking how to remove them, but no-one asked if they can stay in.
As removing them seems a right pain with all the new belt setup and tensioning you have to figure out.

Thanks in advance for any advice
Mike

Cheers danny.. It just saves mucking around with all new belt sizes etc.. Will it seize up in time? or produce any problems in the long run that you know of?

Can't see why not mate

They have clutches in them so it's free spinning anyway until you power it up

While your here tho.. anything i should be cautious of when taking all the pipe work out etc?
As this will be the first time doing it.

If you're taking the pipe work out it doesn't matter really, damage the pipe work rather than anything else that may be damaged by forcing pipes out of place etc

Yea its empty.. had another look on the weekend and found the previous owners have already cut a pipe off lol.

Be sure to wear gloves when removing aircon pipes as the fluid is some nasty shit, known to be highly carcinogenic.
Also make sure there's no gas in the system (unlikely in a 306 lol) as it makes you pretty ill if you breath it in.

Other than that, just Chop the pipes at the bulkhead if you cba with taking the dash out and the pump is on a clutch so should stay free spinning no problem.

Either that or swap to a D8a aux bracket

Also wear goggles sealed against your face if possible. Unlikely but the gas can blind you.

Cheers all for the advice.. seems pretty straight forward then.
