What to do to an XUD - Nathan1305 - 07-08-2014

Thought I'd put up my plans for the DTurbo and see what you think. And what you think can be added to the list Smile

Exterior:

Wheel refurb
Black mask or possibly white mask
Ph3 indicators
Possibly re-spray the strip under the boot lid
Rallye blanks

Interior:

White ph3 dial needles
Redo headliner in black
Black cabriolet sun visors
DTurbo floor matts including boot carpet
White clock faces
White clock LED kit

Mechanical:

Straight through system
Bosch pump
Tune the Bosch pump
Gti6 beam
Gti6 brakes
Possibly coilovers
New Valeo clutch
Give engine a clean up
Possibly new turbo once tuned (looking for around 170 BHP)
Maybe FMIC

That's just my rough list I would really appreciate it if you guys can tell me what you would do so I can get an idea of what's possible and what is usually done on these cars

What would you say is the better turbo?

Shove a bosch pump on it and run a ton of veg.

Spend the rest on coke and hookers.

Hopefully the GT20 is the better turbo as that's what I've bought based on reading through the forum. More efficient and spools faster. Would it not be worth changing to the HDi rods at that sort of power level just to reduce the risk a bit?

THIS. Theres a thread about a drug smuggling 306 as well.

170bhp is something I'll aim for in the future at the moment I'm looking for around 130bhp which I'm hoping I can do from just a Bosch pump and free flowing exhaust

130 is easily achievable from a stage 1 tune. What turbo has it got?
However its important to remember that your cooling system is in good working order.

RE: What to do to an XUD - mr_fish - 07-08-2014

Before chasing more power, give the engine a service (unless you have accurate service history)

Oil, Air, Fuel Filters, Cambelt and Water pump. As Anton says make sure the cooling system is working well as heat is what kills the XUD.

Not sure what turbo it's just a standard one but don't know how to tell what one it is. So if I got a Bosch pump is there people on the forum that can tune, gov mod and LDA grind it for me? So with cooling will a FMIC help this?

Yeah I'm planning on getting the parts I need ready then doing a full service so it's all in top condition for the power increase Smile

You mean store it inside the chassis ?
With the handy hole on every 306 just under the rear seat belt pointing point ? Smile

It depends on how you drive tbh. The TD04L is a late spooler but goes on far up the rev range (but i'm a mid-top sort of driver), but the GT20 is a faster spooler

RE: What to do to an XUD - Stevo-trendy - 07-08-2014

Is it much work fitting a gt20 to a xud ?

Nathan, don't get too carried away as you may struggle insuring all those engine modifications in your first year..

Gt20 sounds more like what I'm after

Yeah I'm just getting an idea of what I want to do Smile thinking of doing it all after my first year, might as well get an idea. Just going to do a few mods now, mainly concentrating on servicing and making it a clean example

A standard d turbo is more than adequate for today's city driving and economy
