opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 02-04-2012 been spraying my aidel today that i been refurbing. its anthracite grey. i was just wondering what people would think if i was to add silver glitter spray to it as im not too sure my self. heres pictures its not the best job in the world but ive spent so much time preparing it building it up with filler primer and sanding it. luckily there other 3 are already refurbed mint just need paint scoring with sandpaper and spraying. anything opinions please thanks kent Re: opinions needed? - ginge191 - 02-04-2012 leave them as they are - they're looking real nice! any glitter would just go eughhghghhg Re: opinions needed? - declantg - 02-04-2012 Leave them, they look sweet Re: opinions needed? - Grant - 02-04-2012 From what I can see in the pictures, it looks like you have done a mint job of them mate. Congrats. IMHO glittery paint will look naff. Personally I wouldn't do it, but its not my car so... They look fresh like that, maybe ask someone to photoshop for you? (I am crap on photoshop lol) opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 02-04-2012 Thanks all. It's not a mint job if I spent a bit more time sanding Them I may of got them better. But you can only notice close up. But I'm more than happy with it . Going to laquer it tomorrow if I have time. Going to put it in my down stairs toilet as there's a radiator in there and it's small so it should harden nicely over night. Re: opinions needed? - Grant - 02-04-2012 Definately let it harden. I left mine one night then had the tyres put back on and rebalanced, and the twat in the tyre garage took a chunk of paint out of one of the spokes. Luckily its not too noticable... Willl touch it up soon Spoke at 2 o'clock Definately let them harden before putting them on! opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 02-04-2012 Can just notice it now you mentioned it. Omgosh that pink look amazing!!!! opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 02-04-2012 Re: opinions needed? - 4WayDiablo - 02-04-2012 Should have got them shadow chromed :-) Re: opinions needed? - Grant - 02-04-2012 How did you find sanding and spraying with the tyres still on? I found it much easier to have them taken off, but cost a fair bit more... Could you still get good coverage around the rim? :giggedy: Re: opinions needed? - 4WayDiablo - 02-04-2012 Best way ive found is letting the tyre down a bit and wedging playing cards in the bead :-) worked perfectly Re: opinions needed? - Grant - 02-04-2012 I found it helpful to be able to run sandpaper all around the lip of the rim, something I couldn't do with the tyre in place. But then who ever owned my wheels before me had kerbed them quite significantly so i suppose thats why.... opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 02-04-2012 4WayDiablo Wrote:Best way ive found is letting the tyre down a bit and wedging playing cards in the bead :-) worked perfectlydidn't think of letter tyre down. Will try with next one. As for coverage round the rim I'll let you know when I take paper off I thought of shadow chrome but couldn't fine any cans of it. I think I might pay for refurb next year see how they turn out. Re: opinions needed? - kingy - 02-04-2012 looks good kent. good work opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 02-04-2012 Cheers wayne . Could you still get good coverage around the rim? :giggedy: To answer your question i took a picture today when I took paper off tyre. And as for masking there was no point. Tyre is covered. Any idea how I can get the paint off the tyre? opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 03-04-2012 Just to let you know they look better than the picture. Think it's just flash and angle. Re: opinions needed? - mark_airey - 04-04-2012 There is a point to masking, you just have to do it properly, if you don't then you might as well just not bother as you have discovered As for getting the paint off the tyres, paint thinners will do it, just make sure you don't get it on your nice newly painted wheels! opinions needed? - kentiiboii - 04-04-2012 Cheers mark. And you can only tell on the pictures looking at the wheel you won't notice. Going to trying letting them down next.
