Is it bad that i actually REALLY like this??? not so keen on the rear though

RE: The new 108 gti - Toms306 - 25-07-2014

Ooh, didn't know they were making a GTi! Which engine is in it? Still just the 1.2VTi?

Looks like a smaller 208 tbh, which isn't a bad thing! I'd like to hope they've sorted the comfort after the 107, but doubt it lol.

RE: The new 108 gti - procta - 25-07-2014

looks like pugs hot hatchs are starting to come back.

RE: The new 108 gti - Pebbles167 - 25-07-2014

Pug are back on track. Don't especially like the 208 (its ok) but the 108 and 308 are ace!

I think its more of a mini new 308 tbh. but from what i have read there is talk of the 1.2 thp 130bhp turbo lump, If this goes ahead and is offered in this colour i may have to consider getting getting one lol

+ 1 on that

RE: The new 108 gti - Niall - 25-07-2014

Oooh i like that.
Like others have said, i think pug are getting back on track. The 208 GTi is great and although i haven't driven one, i have sat in one and the driving position just feels perfect for blatting it about all over the place.
Those of us at Pugfest will probably agree the RCZ R was no slouch at all and seemed to handle well! The 308 R looks great as well.

Still won't live up to the 205/206/106/306 though Sad

RE: The new 108 gti - toseland - 25-07-2014

i like that... could do with being a bit.. sharper with the lines.. but oither than that it looks good.

RE: The new 108 gti - bashbarnard - 25-07-2014

208 gti is a dissappointing drive so is 207 gti I like the look of this one though

Sadly cars in general simply won't anymore.
The days of EFI but other than that no fancy electronics and relatively simple engines in very light, very involved cars with no assistance other than very mildly assisted PAS are sadly long gone.

Yeah its a real shame but you can understand why. If you were unlucky to have a crash in a 205, they were far from forgiving even in slow crashes!

RE: The new 108 gti - bashbarnard - 25-07-2014

I had a head on in a ax id take a 205 any day. Although saying that I see what your saying and it is a great shame. The 108 looks promising but we will see

The thing is we will all learn to adapt and love these cars, Think 15 years ago people that were our age at the time were saying the same about the 205,309,306,106. To much abs/pas/front wheel drive blah blah, They will never be as simple, light & involved as the escorts and such. But they became amazing cars in there own right. which is hopfully where peugeot are going with the new generation of hot hatches

RE: The new 108 gti - Curt - 25-07-2014

I like that.

This! People (in general) don't like change....but in a few years time everyone gets used to it....then just as they are the next things are coming out lol... Always has and always will be like that.

RE: The new 108 gti - Dum-Dum - 25-07-2014

Gosh I like the 208 gti but I like that more. They could make it an utter rocket with the right engine.

RE: The new 108 gti - Piggy - 26-07-2014

Cars will be getting lighter again soon when regs get tighter the only thing thats left is to lose some fat.

What underpinnings has this got? Or is it a genuine new mono shell from Peugeot?

I do like the look. But I have a good feeling you will feel about connected to the road as if you were on a playstation Undecided

RE: The new 108 gti - puglove - 26-07-2014

Apparently its only going to have a kerb weighr of around 850KG which is pretty good !

That is good!! Should be a rocket with 130 bhp

RE: The new 108 gti - Dum-Dum - 26-07-2014

Wonder how tunable it'll be

RE: The new 108 gti - 7057sam - 26-07-2014

Actually looks pretty epic, just now In real life it would never have them lows though Sad

It's all about weight and cost these days, so I'd assume they'll make the engine and components 'just' good enough to survive the warranty, rather than something with 2 litres and a heavy engine that only manages 90bhp with room for an extra 40 lol. Itwasntme Tbh though, how much more than 130bhp could you push from a 1.2? Theres only so much air you can fit in there. That said, I don't see 130bhp in 850kg being slow!

RE: The new 108 gti - Niall - 26-07-2014

If its anything like the current crop of pug THP engines, it will be big time tuneable. They seem to be rather bullet proof although being fairly new, only time will tell i suppose!

RE: The new 108 gti - Toms306 - 26-07-2014

Time will tell as you say, but I can't see them lasting 15+ years! Especially if tuned...
