ECU swap - RJBillWCA - 07-07-2014

Was considering swapping an ecu from another 2.0 HDi 306 into my X reg HDi because it has a 150bhp map on it. My car is only standard, would this be recommended? Advice and suggestions. Thanks

more than likely not, 150bhp is stage 2..

there are a few parts you need before you can put that on like a fmic, possibly a clutch if its not a limited torque map as the clutch will just slip..

is your car completely standard?

also you cant just change the ecu as i wont start

hope this helps

You'll need the matching ECU, BSI and key all from the same car, and also to be aware that there's two different ECU fitments / looms on the HDi depending on age (single plug and 3-plug setups)

As above, if it is a 150hp map, it'll not run properly on a standard HDi.

To be honest, for the price that someone like Jammapic is charging for remaps you might as well just get a map suited to your particular car/ECU/mods, probably for less than you could sell the other remapped ECU setup for.

Ok thanks guys i'll just do a stage 1 in my car, does a remap to 125-130hp make a big difference to the car?

RE: ECU swap - powerandtorque - 07-07-2014

Massive difference. I'm running a JP Stage 1+ map (~130hp) on my estate and it transformed it.

Hi guys is there any way round it if u don't have the bsi unit out of the car ?

Don't be tight, and buy a map for your actual ECU? :-P

If you unplug the ecu out of the donor car while the engine is running you can plug it into your car and it should work...

It will re-lock if you've got the immobiliser related stuff still connected in the destination car though.

Mine just re-locked to the car it put it into....
