What car to buy? - Nathan1305 - 02-07-2014

Right just got a tax rebate of £1230 Big Grin so probably looking to get a new car while I can. I'm thinking of going for a HDi.

What would you recommend?

I don't have any dept I'm 19 so don't really have any of that

RE: What car to buy? - Midnightclub - 02-07-2014

GTi's aren't that bad on insurance, mine was marginally more than a HDi to insure

Try a quote on one Wink theyre not bad at all too insure.

RE: What car to buy? - Midnightclub - 02-07-2014

Tbh I'd have thought it wouldn't be too much worse on fuel than the 1.4, because you use less throttle getting around due to the higher torque/capacity etc..

I averaged about 25-30mpg driving one daily, but on the motorway they aren't bad on fuel, some see 40+mpg.. really depends on your driving style and whether it's largely town based etc..

RE: What car to buy? - 1616six - 02-07-2014

I'd recommend a HDI, reasonable power with good economy.. you'll love it compared to your 1.4 I can assure you! Couldn't you technically fly from Brizzle to Stansted? Tom might even pick you up from there...

Hmm true or even a train I think a HDI will be better insurance than a GTi6 is £450 a month for me! A HDI is only £240 which is only £20 more than what I'm paying now!
