Ford content inside. - Danny Wideboy - 29-06-2014

So I have just bought a one owner from new MK3 escort van. Inlove

Was owned by a good friends dad and maintained by my friend throughout.

Has got a little rust, as expected, it is a Ford, and a 1.6 CVH engine.

I intend to XUD this van and boost f*ck out of it, as it will be a project on the side and not a daily. It will be lowered slightly but that is it for the looks, although I will be sacking off the leaf springs and putting Macpherson struts on the rear. Proper sleeper.

I am aware it won't be easy, or a plug and play effort but I love the XUD and don't want any other engine in there.
Can't afford the likes of an RS turbo lump and don't want to go petrol because tuning costs a fortune.

Ford fanbois will hate it but the 1.8 turbo diesel lump that came from Ford is poop and from what I can find is not happy to be tuned as much as the XUD.

Sometime shortly will be some pics of the old girl, and a sleeper project will be posted in the correct section.

Wish me luck!

Cheers, Danny.

Awesome. Old Escort vans are nigh on extinct now. Just hope youre handy with a welder lol

Mate of mine at Uni had a Mk3 CVH powered van, XR3 body kit, RS alloys, 3 12" subs and another 10 mids and tweeters. Fantastic.

Plans sound good

It's not home yet so no pictures.

MIG welder is my next move, don't think my arc will be gentle enough.

Van is no longer being sold to me. Censored
Did a handshake deal with the fella but he has decided to keep it after all.
I am a bit gutted but it would have been a lot of effort to do so not overly bothered really I suppose.
Still on the hunt for a project vehicle, think I'll stick to peugeots as they generally have capabilaty for XUD and thats the engine I want.

Christ the last time I saw a mk3 escort van, was practically 20 years ago! the escorts that are still a live and kicking are the later escort vans, more of those survive than the escorts them selves around here,
most have either been nicked or scrapped, same with the sierra and cavs.

Spotted a Mk4 Combi van tonight, not seen a Combi in years. Still one or two Sierra's/Cav's (Spotted a mint GSI in Sunderland last week nearly had a crisis) round my end...Even Mk1 Mondeos are rare these days.
