Matts cossack S16.. Engine out, interior in! - Matt-Rallye - 16-06-2014

Figured i should start a proper thread for it seeing as some actual progress is being made on this now.

For anyone thats not already aware i shall start the story from the beginning.

Saw the car advertised for 400 quid on a local facebook sales page, stated it had no tax or test and had been parked up for a number of years.

One viewing and 300 quid later the car was mine,

piccys:

[Image: 7E770090-F667-4977-B245-1D8317D44B8D_zpsgzsz4k3l.jpg]

So i brought it home, discovered the thermostat was seized shut and the car had been driven that way resulting in massive headgasket failure.

[Image: 76E6D37B-DCF1-4014-AAF3-AABE141307CC_zpsnfrofzwu.jpg]

And basically it has been sat in my shed ever since! only this last few weeks i have bothered too do anything with it so i first decided too give it a proper wash and polish.

RE: Matts cossack S16.. - ozonehostile - 16-06-2014

It's a beaut apart from the 307 side repeaters and wrong wheels Smile

Probably one of the tidiest ph1 I've seen!

RE: Matts cossack S16.. - Matt-Rallye - 16-06-2014

Now onto some actual progress:

The car had a cloth Dturbo interior fitted as someone must of had the S16 seats which is gutting but for now i have bought some 6' leathers off zakk too fit untill i get the correct interior.

This is how the car currently stands:

I have also purchased a set of original 'laser' alloys, ended up fitting them too my rallye for a short while so unfortunately no pictures currently.

Then onto the latest big development!! After thinking about what too do with the original engine i couldnt decide wether too rip it out and replace it or repair it.

I chose the first option and after a swift visit too jonnyB i came home with this:

(the S16 engine not the forklift!)

Also picked up a spare gearbox from him so my parts department is overflowing lol

Thats all for now but should be making quick progress on this as i want it ready and on the road for pugfest! wish me luck

Also found this written on the rad cradle:

Started loosing the light abit so just started degreasing the bay as while the engine is out im having various bits powdercoated and the bay is being fully degreased, steam cleaned and polished / sealed and waxoyled in the chassis legs etc. thankfully so far the car seems pretty solid!

Also happy too report i have not found a single dodgy or kinked / bent panel whilst taking the front end apart which leads me too believe it is as genuine as it seems Smile

Over and out for tonight! more in the morning.
