Clutch question - clarkey2010 - 03-06-2014

1.9xud (Citroën zx)

Clutch biting point is pretty high can these be adjusted on the cable or is it worth just replacing?

If replacing what's worth while upgrade for a stage 1 or is a standard Oe clutch more then enough?

Replace the clutch cable at the same time or?

Cable is self adjusting, a standard Valeo will be more than up to the job and replacing the cable should help the pedal feel nicer as no doubt yours is old and dried out. Also worth changing the fork bushes while you're there, cheap and easy.

if I remember there is a link on clutch cables, mostly they say if high its the cable, it can not be adjusted as they self adjusting. bit of bitch to do.

Also, have you still got the weird spring mechanism on the clutch pedal? If so, sack it off, might make a difference. Try stamping on the pedal and letting your foot slip off it so it springs back up again, iirc thats the easiest way to get it to auto adjust. Smile

yeh that worked for me. :-)

Yup all original, so guess it's done well considering it's age and only doing 80k miles.

Just done the slide of the pedal trick and it seems to have done nothing lol

But cheers guys for the reply
