Terraclean - Iceman299 - 31-05-2014 Hi all, just wondering if anyone has this done on their HDi and seen/noticed any benefits? I've searched google and this site but not seen anything conclusive on whether it's effective on a 306 Thanks RE: Terraclean - Ruan - 31-05-2014 It's going to do f*ck all. The main place carbon will build for DI Diesels is on the back of the inlet valves and the inlet valve seats from EGR - however since diesels are injected directly into the combustion chamber (not before the inlet valve) it's going to have NO chance of cleaning anything, the carbon on the pistons won't do any damage and nothing will touch the carbon on the tips of the injector nozzles... Carbon in the exhaust manfold, on the exhaust valves again won't cause any damage... If it sounds like an easy fix.. It probably is total bullshit. £80 wonder potions are probably not the answer! Also I'll put MONEY on it shagging parts of the fuel system, HDis are especially picky on fuel, wouldn't fancy some bullshit cleaning chemicals being run through the common rail system... Judging by the fact they can't give any hard science behind it and from what I remember, I laughed repeatedly at any science they did try to put out there. I seem to remember they tried saying the fuel was negatively charged, therefore giving lots of cleanz. RE: Terraclean - Iceman299 - 31-05-2014 Makes sense. I was sceptical myself, just thought i'd ask as a mate of mine had it done to his mondeo and mentioned it to me last night. Appreciate the quick response! RE: Terraclean - Ruan - 31-05-2014 I'm sure if the engine is that knackered that a wonder potion is going to improve things, you've got far greater worries than "it's increased by 4mpg!!"... That's probably just you driving like a saint! |
