Usb port - deggerz - 18-05-2014 Hi guys, has anyone got any pointers on how to put a usb port in the car percent that will actually charge my phone? Was thinking of one of the 3 way things from halfords and wiring directly to live ?? Cheers Re: Usb port - kentiiboii - 18-05-2014 Usb cigarette charger? RE: Usb port - deggerz - 18-05-2014 Would rather have a more permanent solution tbh, like something sat in the coin bit Re: Usb port - kentiiboii - 18-05-2014 I know what you mean, couldn't you slice into the cigarette lights with a usb cable? RE: Usb port - deggerz - 18-05-2014 Possibly I funno RE: Usb port - WiNgNuTz - 18-05-2014 Something like this: Thats just wired in to the live from the cigarette lighter. RE: Usb port - deggerz - 18-05-2014 That's exactly what I'm after where did you get the thing from and does it charge your phone well? RE: Usb port - WiNgNuTz - 18-05-2014 That came from Aldi at the grand price of £2.99! And yeah, the usb would charge the phones, but i usually used the usual car charger anyway. RE: Usb port - deggerz - 18-05-2014 Sound cheers pal Re: Usb port - kentiiboii - 18-05-2014 I think I need my self one of these. Usb port - Sambarker - 19-05-2014 Make sure you check how many mA the outputs are on the USB ports as most of the cheaper ones are only 500mA. Most smart phones nowadays will struggle to charge on anything less than 1000mA. 2000mA is the best option! RE: Usb port - deggerz - 19-05-2014 Sweet man thank you RE: Usb port - nominous - 19-05-2014 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380708104111 Wire into switched live with spare 3A. Fix USB end into coin holder etc. RE: Usb port - tigerstyle - 19-05-2014 (18-05-2014, 07:53 PM)WiNgNuTz Wrote: Something like this: They look to be 0.5Amp ports, You need 1Amp and even2 on some phones/tablets to get them to charge. 0.5Amp falls into the kinda useless category. RE: Usb port - cully - 19-05-2014 i did a guide on building yourself one of 2 amps its over at theywhoshallnotbenamed for members over their http://www.theywhoshallnotbenamed/forum/threads/123868-12V-and-5V-usb-utility-sockets?p=1644233&viewfull=1#post1644233 RE: Usb port - WiNgNuTz - 19-05-2014 (19-05-2014, 07:18 PM)tigerstyle Wrote: They look to be 0.5Amp ports, You need 1Amp and even2 on some phones/tablets to get them to charge. 0.5Amp falls into the kinda useless category. As said, i didnt really use the USB ports, only the normal ones. RE: Usb port - tigerstyle - 19-05-2014 (18-05-2014, 08:00 PM)WiNgNuTz Wrote: , but i usually used the usual car charger anyway. Problem is cheaper car chargers are also 500mA! It's hard to win without spending $$$ RE: Usb port - WiNgNuTz - 19-05-2014 Meh, havent got the car any more anyway, so the new owner will have to put up with its cheapness. Always did me right though. RE: Usb port - Ruan - 11-07-2014 ^^ above! Most phones these days need a good 1.5-2A@5v to charge quickly - especially if being used for GPS/Choons in the car. RE: Usb port - WiNgNuTz - 11-07-2014 Holy thread revival! Looking to bump up your post count Ruan?! RE: Usb port - Ruan - 12-07-2014 WTF!? This thread was at the top of the Electrical section yesterday evening! I promise! Do you ever normally see me reviving threads from the ark!? Frankly you barely see me posting in any threads unless I really can be arsed RE: Usb port - WiNgNuTz - 12-07-2014 I was gonna say, i think you're JUST past the limit for posting in the for sale section! You sure you were on Page 1 of the electrical section, and not page 3 or something? RE: Usb port - toseland - 16-07-2014 (12-07-2014, 09:29 AM)Ruan Wrote: WTF!? Correctd for accuracy |
