I'm still struggling to get my head around VE pumps.....common rail systems seem much easier to comprehend!

Well thats because mechanically a CR system is much simpler than mech...as the ecu itself controls everything....which is why the software / mapping is very complex...However mech pumps have to control all these things with mecanical intervention, which requires lots bits and pieces!
