I have the exact same issue but it stops after a few secs - once the engine has kicked over the clicking starts for a few seconds again.

Someone said it was a relay and i have been told to just replace the relay, someone else told me it could be the glow plugs, now its been happening for a while and now the engine takes ages to fire up plus its worse in wet weather!

Think im going to replace my plugs this weekend and see if it makes a difference

Right i have an answer for clicking in the glove box!!

Turns out all it is is the air con that needs re-gassing :-)

My starting issue however seems to be the plugs cos it bumps starts fine straight away meaning its an electrical fault - likley to be the plugs and apparently diesels are not fond of wet weather starts...
