Okay this morning the key is getting stuck at the first click and wont go any further, i know exactly whats happened, a bit of plastic wil have broke off the switch and will be blocking it.
Problem is, without turning it to the second positiom i cant get barrell out. Is the any way to release it otherwise or is drilling the locking tabs off my only option?

If it wont turn It will need drilling or try putting a chisel on the tabs and give it a whack with a suitable hammer
Barrel was dicky on one of my cars I just wired the ignition to a push button car won't start without the key in ignition anyway due to immobiliser so no one can start it without key

Sure you haven't put the steering lock on?
