When the oil cooler fails do you loose coolant and is it a easy job to change it

RE: oil cooler - Toms306 - 26-04-2014

Could do, usually mixes coolant and oil.

Easy enough to change yeah, its just held on by one bolt that the oil filter screws onto.

Ive got the oil and water mixing and a little coolant loss and the water light keeps coming on when its full up and thats really enoying

RE: oil cooler - Toms306 - 27-04-2014

Well water light coming on full will be the sensor in the header tank tbh.

Its possible the oil cooler could cause the other problems though. It could also be headgasket but I've never seen a HG fail on 306 HDi's!

My head gasket is gone on my new one. Combustion to coolant only though

Im thinking as there is some sludge in the header tank has some how runed the sensor

Can I take the original oil cooler off and use a aftermarket one or do I need a working standard one???
