As a few of you may have seen ive been having alot of issues with a judder whilst turning left for the past week. Its set me up from day one. The more ive looked the more ive discovered was dying on the front end of the car.
The list of parts replaced so far is as follows:
Passanger driveshaft
Drivers driveshaft seal
Box oil
Ball joint
2x strut top
2x strut bearings

Considering next week the turbo fun begins its not exactly a bad thing that its all been rebuilt. Just a pain i still havnt found the source of the judder. Jacked the car up to test the diff and discovered the drivers drive shaft was running ecentrically from the support bearing to the hub. Fingers crossed this is the cause but seems ofd its felt through the passanger side.

Anyway back to business. As in previous posts ive been having issues with finding a suitable intake. Ended up resorting to a stock intake with a modified fitting for the turbo. Easiest way to marry it up to the turbo i could see was to lop the bend off and install a silicone reducer.[Image: 82e2eadd61b506a5b3ccf3fc0924bd13.jpg][Image: 5113653928cbb7e740882368d3eaff10.jpg]
Anyone else doing this the size silicone you need is a 51mm<60mm. I personally recomend buying an ash hose aswell. A little more expensive but seem longer then others on the market.
Also had the chance at work to mill the exhaust flange ready for the stainless to be mad.

Was thinking of doing the air intake the same. Easiest way really. Just out of interest what's the smallest diameter on that pipe? I'll compare it to the 406 one I've got

51mm on external which is pre turbo

Just to clarify what inlet pipe is it you've stuck the reducer 90 on?

On the one you're using
Yeah the metal one is a stock 306 hdi. Not sure what a 406 one is like but swear there plastic

They are plastic.

Is there only the one mount that holds it onto the block (just down from the oil breather) and one on the turbo which you've cut off?

Yeah. Tbf mine atm is only attached turbo end. Never had any knocks from it.

Would rather a 306 one then, least you can clamp down hard

Yeah it was fabric rimmed from a door card in a scrappy but the meridian interior is long gone. Must redo it [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]

Well weather permiting these week is crunch time for the big.t
Was abit rainy out today so thought id build and clean the turbo up to make sure ive got everything and well prep'ed.

So racke the coldside off and gave her a good clean up with some white spirit

Next wa making sure the gt15 oil line fitted. Was always tol it would but never teated it for myself. As everythings abit of a squeeze i found it was easier to take the diy wastegate off to fit it correctly. Deemed now a decent time to set the wastegate preload too. Read up in a few places and seemed the norm preload was 3-turns or only seeing half the wastegate arm pin through the wastegate bracket so i choose the 2nd method a it added a little more preload.

Decided i wanted to run gaskets on the manifold. Seems to be a personal prefrence as ive heard some people run them with and without.

So thats it. As far as im concerned this puppy is ready for play this week. Downpipe welding is booked for sat so fingers crossed. If i get bored an the turbos fitted i may even fit the r70 this week.

Anyone got any tips before i undertake this? Im aware i need to fill the oil pipes and cartridge before fitting but is there a niced way of doing this?

Can just squezze it in with a syringe if you want

Turn the car over with the fuel pump or whatever disconnected so it doesn't actually fire and start.

Few 10 second goes should prime everything up with oil lovely.

Small update while im rained off.
Downpipe off, induction started being removed and filter off.

Descovered reasonable amount of oil in the boost pipes too

While removing the mount discovered ive well and truley crapped the baker bm mount.

that's quite common if it hasn't been tightened properly, or the large washer is missing.

welshpug is on the money, not having them tight or running without the washer can certainly lead to this on any type of cup mount

Was running the washer. The mount actually pulled the chassis out first time but the reinforcment may have killed it.

Ive not got a bad word to say about bakerbm, they are liturally one of the most helpful companies ive dealt with.

Am i right in thinking to get the hdi inlet manifold off you have to have the exhaust off first? Been donks since ive done it. Got four bolts out the inlet so far and 6 out the exhaust but rained off again -.-

Exhaust manifold off first then you can get at the inlet bolts,

Cheers, just could not remember. Tbh the closer i get to taking this turbo off the more it looks like my brethers chucking out to much oil [FACE WITH TEARS OF JOY]
