rust, engine bay, moonstone - Piggy - 06-04-2014 Some rust spots in engine bay have returned annoyingly... Just not sure what to do, obvious thing is rub back, hammerite, then colour paint top coat and laquer... But what colour hammerite would you use? Any other suggestions? Rust looks rank coming up on the moonstone RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - karl1989 - 06-04-2014 Why not just undersell it. Ano it's black but should work better Also noticed ph3 moonstones are quit bad for rust for some reason. My old ph2 was solid RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - Curt - 06-04-2014 Sand it back and put some rust treatment on it (there's a better one than Kurust but I can't remember the name, Google should find it) and then oxide primer, then top coat. RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - Piggy - 07-04-2014 Nice one curt RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - tigerstyle - 07-04-2014 POR15 or something from BiltHamber (Deox gel stuff is highly regarded) http://www.bilthamber.com/corrosion-treatments RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - Grant - 07-04-2014 I agree with Curt. There are much better de rusting solutions out there than Krust. Will look tidier in the right colour RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - simonh - 08-04-2014 POR15 is the best rust treatment I've ever used. You can buy it in a tube as well which is much thicker and easier to use. RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - welshpug - 08-04-2014 do not use hammershite or underseal, you need a rust treatment an etch primer and some colour. RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - Piggy - 08-04-2014 Cool Thanks guys RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - 306Dan - 08-04-2014 +1 for bilt hamber products especially the deox c gel and powder RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - Piggy - 09-04-2014 So get the Gel stuff yeah? Is it a case of rub back to bare metal, put the gel on, then primer and paint? RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - 306Dan - 09-04-2014 With the gel you can knock the top off the rust paint the gel on and leave until it's worked, wash off clean everything up and paint RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - Jonny81191 - 09-04-2014 POR15 FTMFW, it's awesome stuff. But as C.Gerrard will explain, do not get it on your hands RE: rust, engine bay, moonstone - ConorTRG - 09-04-2014 Jenolite is good aswell for rust treatment.
