Lol, no thanks, they probably snap like rotas.

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - THE_Liam - 04-04-2014

They actually look half OK. Are there any BS standards that wheels need to conform to, because if they have it surely they must be OK?

Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - SupaStar88 - 04-04-2014

Not that I'm aware of chap

If you click in the racer word at the top there is about 10 different tyres at that price and it's free delivery lol

The same standards LingLong and TripleTriangle ditch finder tyres are made to?
The minimum safety standard isn't a mark of quality.

I'm aware of that mate. Lets face it, we know quality will be poor but if their safe...

That would be an oxymoron? (of epic proportions)
I'm sure the masses will love them!

These aren't too offensive, but still £47 a corner.

At a guess the cheap ones are an unusual fitment that they want rid of...

Also anyone wondering about quality, can't be any worse than a set of 15 year old Cyclones now can it!!

Not really, Ladas were safe but would you call them good quality?

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - tigerstyle - 04-04-2014

That's a vastly different opinion of quality; Ladas are fundamentally good cars, that's the reason there are still so many around, affordable, serviceable, reliable, and safe as you stated, these factors equal quality. They might not be desirable, but similarly Lada Nivas + Rivas still fetch a good price, they are capable cars, and desirable to some.

We'll just see how many sets of these alloys are still around in 15 years time shall we? Then they can prove their quality.
In my eyes, passing basic a safety test doesn't make them inherently 'safe' they have to be time proved.
I wouldn't fit them to my car in the same way I wouldn't buy LingLong tyres, I don't need to take that risk, I own a car to enjoy driving it, not to scrimp on.

My comparison with Ladas had nothing to do with desirability, it has to do with quality of construction. I agree that Ladas are very tough, safe, simple and reliable, my grandad had a Riva and I learnt to drive in it, but the quality of construction was piss poor. Dashboards fall apart, switches and lights fail, panels have sharp edges, chrome lasts 10 minutes and paint is wafer thin. None of these things make the car unsafe directly, but are indicative of poor quality. Despite these things, a Lada will stil outlast most things.

By your logic about time being proof of safety, does that mean any new alloy wheel is inherently unsafe? If OZ bring out a new design would you have a safety concern until its been around 5 years?

I buy a car to enjoy driving it too, and I also don't fit Wan King chinese ditchfinders, but they aren't unsafe, they just perform poory compared to say Michelin...

OZ have been around making wheels longer than I've been alive, so no I don't think like that. That is also not my point, which I think you know.

People will buy these wheels and people will love them, will they stand the test of time? No. But if they're happy then they're happy so be it. I just hope I'm not the one driving past them when it flies of their car... Smile

If cyclones have had a lot of engineering work put into them to ensure not only that they don't break from large impacts but that fatigue and heat cycles won't break them in the future, then theoretically they would last until they rust to pieces rather than snap.

The short answer though is yes of course they can. If they last 1-2 years and break and the 15 year old cyclones last another two and make it to 17 (as mine have) then the cyclones are better.

Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - Ben Jay - 04-04-2014

However for that price these are and they aren't half bad any one want to bite the bullet and see how they good they are?

In your opinion they won't stand the test of time, that's my point. I mean lets be fair, how many times have you heard of wheels shattering in normal use? I'm sure OZ started out selling wheels cheap because they needed to make a name before charging big money for a set of wheels.

I think I am missing your point to be fair, it seems to be that a BS mark doesn't make them safe, and that they need years of proven safety to be considered safe. Personally if they are made to the minimum standard (if there is one) I'd consider them safe until proven otherwise.

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - Poodle - 04-04-2014

I've seen a fair few shattered by potholes recently, OEM stuff from a couple of big names that keep cropping up too. I agree with Liam tbh, if they conform to the same safety standards as everything else, then i would consider them as useable as anything else. Not sure what else you could mean tigerstyle, you don't genuinely expect real quality at that price do you..?

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - RetroPug - 04-04-2014

The point of alloy wheels are that they are lighter than standard and provide better brake clearance and cooling while still being strong enough to go on the car. Most good alloy wheel manufacturers started out making motorsport wheels, not making cheap, crap ones then making good ones.

If we have no idea how light they are, no idea how much clearance they provide and no idea how strong they are, then how are they a good replacement for even steel wheels?

That's the point for some people, some people buy them purely for looks.

I'm sure they didn't, as that is no way to make a quality name for your company, Sell cheap shit then think that's good for your reputation?

No, to make my thoughts clear, they'll be wank!
Do they pass miniumum requirements, yes, and that's all they do.

Was mostly arguing the "Are they good?" case, but yeah that is true.

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - Curt - 04-04-2014

It's a bit of a stupid argument to have when no one here actually knows what they're like, including tigerstyle.

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - tigerstyle - 04-04-2014

It's a debate Smile

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - THE_Liam - 04-04-2014

To be honest we have to agree to disagree, until someone runs some for a while then we know for sure. I think they could be good if they conform to all the required safety standards but I wouldn't expect the Earth, you think they'll be dangerous because they'll inevitably be built cheaply, and that basic safety standards mean nothing. Does that about sum it up?

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - 7057sam - 04-04-2014

Am I right in thinking there out if stock atm?

Be interesting to see what the buyer actaully receives lol

RE: Wtf!!!!!!!!!!!! Worlds cheapest alloys!! - Toms306 - 04-04-2014

Cheap wishbones are made to certain BS standard....not sure those are safe when the balljoint end snaps off... lol

That said, most alloys seem cheaply made these days... Something like Cyclones are far less likely to dent/crack than a lot of newer ones!

They do make good rally cars, bit of sideways action ! if only liam had bought one! he would have been smoking the rears!

That's because cyclones are whacking great lumps of metal!
