Re: battery relocation kit - kentiiboii - 30-03-2014 I would also like to know this. :-) RE: battery relocation kit - Piggy - 30-03-2014 Just work out the gauge and order it by the meter on ebay...5ms is plenty for positive and a meter for negative/earth Then the required solder on ends RE: battery relocation kit - Niall - 30-03-2014 Go to scrap yard Pick up BMW rear battery leads Pay £5 for them as "its just a bit of cable" Run under car in copex to protect from element Mount battery (ensuring its vented to outside) Job done RE: battery relocation kit - Chris_90 - 30-03-2014 Might be a daft question but why vented to the outside? What gauge will I need? Looking at 300amp one 40mm'2 that to thick/over the top RE: battery relocation kit - Piggy - 30-03-2014 Coz a battery gives off nasty gas RE: battery relocation kit - Teddy - 30-03-2014 just bought some cable to do mine 290 amp 35mm £20 for meters £20 for 5 meters RE: battery relocation kit - Chris_90 - 31-03-2014 (30-03-2014, 10:29 PM)Teddy Wrote: just bought some cable to do mine 290 amp 35mm £20 for meters Is 35mm thick enough tho? RE: battery relocation kit - Teddy - 31-03-2014 Properly depends how big u battery is reading on gti6 forums they run 35mm with out any problems just need to make sure u get a sold earth for it RE: battery relocation kit - zx_volcane - 31-03-2014 get as big as you can afford but as said, easy to buy by the meter and solder terminals on (solder like plumbing solder + blowtourch, not tiny little circuit soldering iron stuff) - welding wire is normally pretty good and flexible. or set of bmw cables has got to be good. also no one has mentioned putting a fuse in! I've got a big 300amp fuse between the positive battery terminal and everything else, just incase it decides to short itself on its route to the engine bay. RE: battery relocation kit - HDIkyle - 31-03-2014 Hmm a fuse! That's a good idea. Not got one on mine. I will get a breaker so can trip it to isolate battery battery relocation kit - Sambarker - 31-03-2014 Welding cable battery relocation kit - SupaStar88 - 31-03-2014 Lol, this is effort!! But you want thicker than standard as you'll get a voltage drop cause of the extra distance plus you'll need to solder and insulate the original wires to the ones your putting in to the back, always use a fuse or a short can start a nasty fire in a second, not nice when going down the motor way window open at 80! |
