Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 28-03-2014

Trying to figure out wasson with my car so wanted a few other peoples to compare if anyone else with a 205 could join in aswell as the zx guys this could get interesting. Bit sad that i started this thread and cant remember what mine is. I think its about 3.1/2krpm @ 70mph

What about you?!

Edit: Obviously in your top gear...

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 28-03-2014

Put tyre size too...

Citroen ZX Volcane/195 55 15/HDI BOX/ 2400ish@70mph

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 28-03-2014

Oh yeah good plan, i like your layout to..

205 185/60/14 XUD9 BOX 3.1krpm@70mph

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 28-03-2014

Tom your 205 has the same size tyres that my ZX originally had fitted. They use a 60 profile on a 14 where as a 306 uses a 65 profile. I am actually running oversized tyres for the ZX, should be 50's on 15's but barely makes any difference.

So a Dturbo on original tyres (185/65/14) is at about 2.9k @70mph iirc

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 28-03-2014

I looked on a wheel fitting website and the difference in rolling radius between ***/50/15 and ***/60/14 is something like 2% literally sod all of a difference.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 28-03-2014

Your speedo out?

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 28-03-2014

No because the 50mph i do on the dual carriage way to save my ears is painful Sad

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - anto - 28-03-2014

XUD Gearbag 195/50/15 3krpm @ 70mph.... roughly

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - bashbarnard - 28-03-2014

306 xud9 standard box 185/60/14 2900 at 70 although I want to swap the 5th gear out for a more economical one just haven't looked into it yet

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Mal - 28-03-2014

195/65R15's (tis a 406)

70mph @ 2.8k rpm

125mph @ 5k rpm..... ninja

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Piggy - 28-03-2014

Surely the speedo will read the same no matter what tyre/wheel combo you have...unless you using GPS for accurate speed?!

Anyway:

2.1 306, hdi box, 70mph @ 2500rpm in 5th

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 28-03-2014

Think i need to get on and fit a hdi box :/

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - padge - 29-03-2014

hdi box for me sometime soon, hate high revving at like 70mph..

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Andy annear - 29-03-2014

306 185/65/14 3.1k is 80mph, couldnt tell you what 70 is lol, around 2700 i think..

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

I got mine very wrong. 3Krpm is 58mph indicated!!!

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Dum-Dum - 29-03-2014

Tyre size wont affect what your speedo reads. only model and gear box

Any 306 with a HDi box will do 2450rpm at an indicited 70mph

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - silverzx - 29-03-2014

BE1 box is disgustingly short Tom, worst part about my 205.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

Im using a 306 xud9 box, work that one out...

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 29-03-2014

Tom you must be using a nad box.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - silverzx - 29-03-2014

How does that work? Did you use the BE1 diff and 205 driveshafts?

Mines running a BE1 (1.8NA) box and it's the worst thing imaginable.

I got a xud9 gearbox in mine. I just used a 306 inner end on the short driveshaft works fine.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

Nope im using a 306 d turbo box. I bought it from danny and it was running fine in his 306.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 29-03-2014

Tom either your doing faster than 58mph/your rev counter is out/it isnt a dturbo box.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

No no and dont think so...

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 29-03-2014

Lol no other options as far as i'm aware...

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

Revs are right im sure of that, been driving xud long enough to know when your cruising at 3K. Again been driving long enough to know im not doing 70mph when it says 60. And the box came from a d turbo that worked fine in that car Undecided

Sorry if i sound like im blowing my own trumpet there Angel

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 29-03-2014

Ok so what revs are you actually doing at 70mph?

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

Dont know havent got to 70 today. Id say about 3.5k.

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Anton - 29-03-2014

Lol well its one of those things i have said! You can't be one out of thousands who has a special gearbox... I bet its a bloody nad box..

RE: Rpm vs Speed, what do you do?? - Tom - 29-03-2014

How do i tell what box it is?
