bit of guidance needed. - tomosy10 - 27-03-2014

Hi all I'm thinking about getting redy to do a front mount but I'm after some help.what parts/things do I need to think about getting and that apart from the obvious front mount and pipe work.I'm putting on better brakes but what else do I need if some one can list the best options for me that would be great.B-)

Have a look in the guide section, fmic related stuff is very well covered.

You mention brakes, that goes a bit beyond the scope of intercooler installs, are you looking to upgrade your chassis as a whole..?

Just thought be better to have better brakes if it's guna be faster.ill take a look at the thread

Oh yeah, completely agree, just wasn't sure exactly what you were asking lol.

There's at least three threads in there that should help you out. Smile

With a stage 2, 266 brakes really aren't that great.. set a few on fire in the past so definitely worth the upgrade to GTi brakes at least.

RE: bit of guidance needed. - madmadmax - 27-03-2014

or with a bit of work some 406 v6 brakes they need 16" rims

Thanks poodle I tried looking for it but nothing come up when I typed in the search bar

RE: bit of guidance needed. - Poodle - 28-03-2014

Did you look in the guide section as suggested..? Just sayin'... Wink

Tbf the search function on here is pretty good, the issue is knowing what to search for. Best bet is to keep the terms simple - "fmic" brought up quite a few useful threads on the first page of results alone.

RE: bit of guidance needed. - tomosy10 - 28-03-2014

I typed in fitting fmic and front mount intercooler and that.just a question I've seen a cheep fmic what would it take to fit it for show at the moment till I get the pipe work.is it all fairly strate forwad.

RE: bit of guidance needed. - Poodle - 28-03-2014

Yep, if it'll go behind the bumper you just need to make a couple of brackets to hold it there.
