Is the price right?

Would be good as they less common to mod so could have somthing unique Smile

I say do it.

Re: Thinking about getting a cabby? - kentiiboii - 13-03-2014

Ive been thinking about buying one and slapping my gti6 engine in. The weather has been so nice this week so would be cool.

But I know in winter when its leaking I won't want it. :-)

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - Dum-Dum - 13-03-2014

I love the cabbys but they are the most stupid impractical 306s going. You cant get ANYTHING in the boot, the roofs are a pain in the arse when they go wrong, Nothing behind the bonnet/wings fits other 306s there's less room in the front footwells because of the strengthening beams and f*ck all in the rear due to the SWB, strengthening beams, the rear seats being a stupid shape and too central.

Oh and they are floppy and dont handle and the big sills catch speed bumps even though its a shorter wheel base and the fuel tank is tiny

I'd have another in a heartbeat.

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - underground375 - 13-03-2014

Does anyone think there more of a women car then a mans :S

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - C.A.R. - 13-03-2014

Girly car? Yea of course they are. But they're awesome fun.

It depends how much you care about what other people think. Personally, I'd have another Cabby tomorrow if funds allowed it. Such a sense of occasion. They handle similarly to a 306 (as you'd expect) but feel a bit heavier and understeer is more prevalent. I know this because I had the 1.8 before the Cabby and re-fitted the same wheels and tyres, so the handling characteristics were purely from the chassis differences.

Hydraulic roofs can be problematic. You can man-handle them if they do go wrong, but if you're not confident they can be a concern as they're quite complex.

Personally feel there's better convertibles on the market, the 306's strong point is its handling and with it being lessened just dont see the point

Do it

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - Eeyore - 13-03-2014

Yeh a dturbo in a cabby is interesting. Cant be many of them around and I am sure someone will always buy it off you if you decide you dont like it.

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - Dum-Dum - 13-03-2014

Womans Car yes and no. All cabbys are girly in a way and the prettyness of the pug lends it to being a girls car but slammed on awesome wheels they can look hard as nails especially with a coal belching diesel and being driven with the roof off in the snow.

Case in point.

The yellow ones are those with the most character IMO. I'd love a GTi6'd Yellow cab..

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - Chris1357 - 13-03-2014

I have been driving my mates Stage 2 Cabriolet for a few day & my god Epic..

RE: Thinking about getting a cabby? - tigerstyle - 13-03-2014

Had to go pick my sister up from work today after fixing the washer pump on her car, could choose my car or hers, went for hers, she drives a 206cc Smile
Roof off and 90+ down the bypass was pretty cool and different to a diesel estate!

Although I've got convertibles in the blood, my dads last cars from oldest to most recent:
Citroen 2CV (canvas roof for those that don't know)
Morris Minor Convertible
Escort Convertible
Golf Convertible
Saab Convertible
Mini Convertible

If you want it man go for it, on a sunny day nothing better!
