Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014

The car will jump to 3k revs when I start it, then after tapping throttle it will drop and bounce between 1-2k revs.

Ive changed and cleaned icv but still bo joy. Ive even disconnected the battery.

Heres a video ive taken.

Sounds like a air leak mate spray some carb cleaner or something allong them lines where the gaskets are are if the revs pick up that's where the leak is

Looks like you need a new inlet gasket Smile

Re: Gti6 idling issue - kentiiboii - 11-03-2014

I bought one other day actually.

So whole point of getting car running nicely is to see if it gets to temp and not over heat during mot...

Assume that hose popped out of the rad?
The way the hose is fixed into the rad is shite really!

The idle will be a air leak somewhere or a very very sticky ICV although even if the plunger was fully open, i don't think it would rev up to 3k. Also check your TPS.

Cheera niall after spraying crab cleaner around I pick up its leaking on inlet mani gasket.

As for the pipe it had popped out the rad so I'm guessing its broke the connection and could mean a new rad?
I'm guessing it was a air blockage in rad or thermostat stuck open as radiator was cold and engine was 85c

RE: Gti6 idling issue - cully - 11-03-2014

revs on mine would hang at 3-4K blip throttle it would drop
turned out to be a loose butterfly on the throttle spindle do the two screws up sorted Wink

Will give that a try tomorrow mate make sure they're tight. If you look in the second you tube video when I spray carb cleaner it sorts the tevs out so new gasket going on tomorrow

RE: Gti6 idling issue - cully - 11-03-2014

just looked at the video yup gasket would be a good start Wink
clean up both faces good and clean dont let any shit in the ports as there will be grit and stones on the manifold edge when you remove it

Cheers will keep that in mind, just worrying that I might of broken rad when hose popped of. Everything was going simple, but luckily it didn't do it when it went for mot.
